Cell Phone Boosters... yes or no?

Hello,

Thinking about getting a cell phone booster that would work for 2 phones that would work either in our truck or Airstream. We currently use AT&T and have a iPhone6s and iPhone 6Plus.... can anyone recommend a booster that would work well, or tell me what kind of "luck" you have had with a booster? Trying to decide if it is worth the money!

Thanks in advance!

Here is an active thread that may answer your question. We have the same phones. Users see reception improvements when they have an existing signal to boost.

WeBoost Drive 4G-X. Antenna and power on the truck and also in the trailer. Also an interior antenna for both. You can buy an extra interior/exterior antennas and power supplies from WeBoost or your supplier. Move the actual radio box from one to the other. See the forums or also www.technomadia.com for lots of information.

I was researching boosters and exterior antennas, since my Airstream seems to be a natural signal insulator...
then I learned to embrace the cellular isolation

I finished my 4G-X and 12 inch Wilson antenna installation yesterday. It boosted Verizon from two dots to five dots inside the Airstream. I think this is going to work.

For us that work on the road or travel for extended periods, this is a real plus.

So very yes on cell boosting.

We currently use a Sleek 4G cradle with the little magnetic antenna. Helps, but we need more power. Scotty says she canna take much more o' that, Cap'n.

Don't have the part number handy, but it's a white cylinder about 3" in diameter and 10.5" tall.

I purchased the same SureCall with a Wilson Ultra Low Loss 1/2 inch diameter coax cable. I ended up installing a Wilson 12.5 inch antenna with thin coax. I routed it through my 23D's side fridge vent.....quick and dirty for a 3 month trip starting next week.

I'm hoping to figure out how to route the 1/2 cable at some point. Lew...you are wise to install the unit at the same time as solar. I would have had A&M Solar do that had I even been aware of cell boosters...ha...

We use a booster that is no longer made so sharing the model number wouldn't be much help. But, I can say that they are a HUGE HELP! If you need reliable internet, I would absolutely recommend getting a booster. We have been able to camp in a few wonderful, remote places with a weak signal because of the booster (like turning 1 weak bar of 3G into a strong, reliable 4 bars as one example). It has paid for itself many times over since we work from the road and like to camp in remote places. I would add another recommendation for the Technomadia resources. Their Mobile Internet Aficionados site is a wonderful, affordable resource and the membership fee was very worthwhile in getting our internet set-up pulled together. We were also able to get an unlimited Verizon plan through one of their recommended vendors and saved a lot through their affiliate deal.

Same as Rocinante above. Using WeBoost Sleek 4G with its original antenna. Helps a bit sometimes. Encouraging enough to do more before next trip. If you go boost, go big!

Antenna Mast

I've not yet gotten the courage to put a hole in the top of my Airstream so I have opted to place all antennas mounted on a mast attached to my Fiamma Bike Rack. I mounted the NOAA weather radio antenna on it using RAM Mount components so I can point it independent of the other antennas if required. The cellular antenna mounts using the supplied u-bolt.

The mast allows me to rotate the directional antennas as well as get them up about 18 feet. The mast stores and is transported in the collapsed position.

I also plan on putting a LED flood light facing down to give me some light at night with reduced glare/shadows.

The router is my hotspot as well as having a telephone port for calls. My iphones connect to the hotspot for both phone calls and internet.
