Question CB radios

Hi fellow Airstreamers,
I've heard that a CB radio is used by many of you. Is there a specific channel that is preferred that one should be tuned into when on the road?

As an extrucker, I listen to channel 19 when rolling. This way you can get information on any traffic jams like which lane to be in or whats going on up ahead. I'll turn it off when near truck stops though. Too much garbage then.

At WBCCI rallies they used to use channel 14 for the daily announcements. I've never heard any at rallies I've attended. Only kids talking on their walkie-talkies.

They are nice when you travel with other AS'ers. You can all hear what's being said in stead of just 2 people talking on phones. Then you get to pick any channel that's not being used.

I have not done the CB route for years, but when we were traveling in a three-some a few years ago we used the family radio walkie-talkies. As 3 Dog Nite mentioned, it is really nice for everyone to hear everyone.
