Casino Queen in East St. Louis

We are thinking of going to the Casino Queen RV park in East St. Louis. Has anyone been there? Is it a safe place to stay? Also, was wondering if anyone has stayed around the Kansas City area. We don't like to stay where they have alot of campfires.

While East St. Louis is not known commonly thought of as safe, I know that the Casino queen lot is safe, and secured by guards. People aren't getting in unless they REALLY REALLY want to. We have thought about staying there over the July 4th holiday to watch fireworks.

We stayed 2 nights there earlier this summer. Like said above E. St. L is not a tourist hot spot but the campgrounds is OK and safe and convienent to St. Louis sightseeing. It is not especially kid friendly though. They have a swimming pool located in the casino hotel but kids are not welcome in the building any longer. It's like camping in a blacktop parking lot. No picnic tables, no fires except in the picnic grove. So if you don't mind the things it lacks it's an OK place to park for a day or two. Good cable hookup and very, very slow Wi-Fi.
