Thumbs up Carlyle Lake - West Dam Campground

Hi.

We just wanted to share this with anyone looking for a nice place to camp. Carlyle lake is in Southern Illinois, about 50 miles east of St. Louis Mo. There are several campgrounds around the lake with various levels of hookups. We stayed at the Dam West campground which is run by the Army Corps of Engineers. Within the campground are sites with full hookups and others with just electricity. We stayed at a full hookup site. I've attached a few pictures of our site and what our view was.

Wow...

I've heard of Carlyly lake a million times, never been there... I didn't know it was so beautiful... Don't expect that around here. We'll have to take a trip out there...

Was it crowded?

We stayed this past Monday & Tuesday night. There were quite a few campers out there. I think there are 95 sites where we stayed and there were very few empty ones. It's already booked this year for most weekends. Weekdays are available.

This would make a nice JCCCI rally place
