Yogurt. Contrary to what Jamie Lee Curtis would have you believe, it doesn't have to be Activia; all yogurt contains pretty much the same enzymes. Just not frozen yogurt; frozen enzymes won't help keep you regular.

I like to eat raw broccoli for lunch with my wife's homemade habanero humus as a dipping sauce! Oh, Fibercon's got nothing on me.... Next morning, it's all I can do to make the bed made before hitting the head. Turn on the vent fan and keep your foot on the flush valve!

My sister-in-law & her husband have been committed to summer vacations in the Black Hills since before we got married. They've had some land with a small travel trailer set down. Their young son back 20 years ago would get out there and refuse to use the outhouse (even with the fur lined toilet seat) -- said he would hold it until he got back to Minnesota. That never worked....

Just sayin'.

Happened all the time on deployments. First, throw self-consciousness to the wind and remember that all living things do it. Second, start taking a stool softener a day or so before the trip and each day away (not a laxative). Get a newspaper, tell everyone to take a walk, and relax.

There is a book about this condition that's geared towards travellers -
it just hasn't come out yet.

I have similar problems with any vacation! I have to stop and ask myself if Iv used the bathroom recently... sometimes its been 4 days! Of course by that time its a strain... I think my problem is more "out of my daily routine". I finally get in the habit of slowing down and at least trying once a day or every 2 days lol

Not wanting to delve too deeply into what is a very personal experience, I will say that I have noticed I can forget to drink enough water if we're very busy with visiting, grand kids, etc.

If your body isn't adequately hydrated, things just don't move on through like they should.

Water, water, water----and more water!

Another thing that works for many people is warm to hot water, not coffee or tea just water.

Wazbro, I was just thinking on the same line, my husband's grandmother used to drink a cup of warm water everything morning first thing.

Also, what I've found works is: walking; more good oils in diet; and if needed, Benefiber (you can't taste it or see it in water, just stir and it completely disolves, and won't thicken like some other fibers in liquid). However, we eat a lot of fiberous foods anyway, but if we get into a habit of eating on the run, I resort to my list.

Stay away from restaurant food and processed food, especially if loaded with sugar.

Here we have a thread on the Forums about what makes ya' poop---what works, and what doesn't.

Been going on for days, now.

Somehow, it just doesn't surprise me a bit!
