Camping Suggestion Colorado: Close to Denver

I'm new to this forum, and new to Airstream (and camping, for that matter). We bought our International this Spring and are ready to give it a go.

Unfortunately we're late booking a camp site, and everything in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park looks to be sold out.

Do you know of any peaceful camping areas in CO that are not far from Denver? We are self sufficient with the airstream, don't need hook-ups. Just want a peaceful spot to enjoy a couple nights with our two kids (8 and 17).

Any tips are appreciated - thank you!

Mary's Lake campground is not far from RMNP. It provides easy access to the park and it quiet but I would not describe it as rustic. Olive Ridge campground is off Hwy 7 on the road out of Estes Park. It is a small campground. Paradise Valley campground is on peak to peak highway.

St. Vrain Campground off I25 is a good option if you are new to your airstream. It has full hookups and many ponds.

Enjoy your airstream!

Camp Dick / Peaceful Valley south of Rocky Mtn Nat Park on the peak to peak highway is a great place to camp in the area of need. Half the sites are first come/first serve, but books up on the weekends, so monday through Friday mostly open. Colorado has very nice state park system (best in the state) and Golden Gate State Park is an excellent choice that is halfway between Rocky Mtn Nat Park and Denver! Might be your best bet! Hope this helps....

You are welcome. If you want easy access to the park, Mary's Lake will be your best bet. It's across the road from the lake and only a few minutes from the park entrance. It's nice.

Camp Dick/Peaceful valley are nice but 30-40 minutes away from the park entrance. Be aware the road to Camp Dick is about 1 mile long and only fits one car. Peaceful Valley is the entrance to an atv site so there are lots of off road folks camped there or starting their routes there. It might be noisy.

Greetings! We visited Kenosha Pass awhile back, and there where plenty of camping areas along Lost Park Road.
Check out our camping blog. I've written a bit about the area.

Thanks for your tips everyone. We ended up staying at a random spot the first night, and were lucky enough to get a spot at Moraine Park the second night.

We had a wonderful trip and our kids had a great time, too!

Thanks again for taking time to respond with your thoughts and suggestions, we really appreciate it!
