Camping on the beach in Florida

We're planning a trip to Florida and would like to camp on the beach with full hookups, or at least electricity. I've heard about a campground in Destin. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort. It's at Flagler Beach, south of St Augustine, north of Daytona. Get waterfront. You back your camper right up to the sea wall and there's the beach. Not much touristy stuff to do there, which is what I like. I sip Coronas (Coroni?) and watch the waves roll...

Google them, they have a website... If I was on my computer, I'd pop a link up here for you.

Miramar Beach is our favorite. After trying other locations, this one rose to the top. Camp Gulf is in the Destin area, but next to Miramar.

Airstreams and sand and salt water...... My Mom and Dad camped on the beach in a 1973 Mobiluxe Land Cruiser in 1975 in Texas... when I sold the unit in 1988 there was still sand in the carpet!

I second this place. Great place to swim, fish, surf with nice facilities and full hook ups.

Long Key FL State Park is one of my favorites. It is right on the water, though the beach is narrow and rocky. Water and electric on site. Dump station on the entrance road.

On your way south Edisto Beach SC State Park is also right on the beach. Beautiful beach!

Camp Beach in Miramar Beach near Destin is probably the best directly on the beach camping that there is. The beach there is one of the nicest in the country.

We are booked in for ten days at Topsail Hill State Park near Destin in mid-Feb.

It has a mile and a half of beach, but the camping is not right on the beach. For a state park however, the sites are amazing - large concrete pads, full hookups, pool, bike / hiking trails, etc.

This will be our third visit - then onward to other Florida locations where we have made reservations. Looking forward to being "On the road" again!

Brian.

Along the same line as Topsail is Grayton Beach State park which is about 5 miles east of Topsail. It is also directly on the ocean. It has full some full hook-up sites with a view of Western Lake. The campsites at Grayton are much closer to the ocean that at Topsail. The beach and dunes at Grayton are some of the nicest anywhere.

Red Coconuts in Ft. Myers is a great place! A little crowded and expensive, but a beautiful beach and plenty to do - even if you want to do nothing but sit back and drink a cold one!

The Ho Hum Campground in Carrabelle, Florida has ten full hookup sites directly on Apalachicola Bay. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

We spent a week on the Florida Panhandle at the Emerald Beach RV Park and found it wonderful. It's just outside of Destin. It was NOT crowded when we were there.

Prices seemed reasonable, the park was clean and the folks were all friendly. We would definitely go there again.

Here's a link to a few shots we took. We backed right on the beach, and had a great view.

Only been there once just to preview. Right on the beach, Turtle Beach Campground, Sarasota. Owned by the Sarasota county. On siesta Key, voted 1 of the best beaches in the US a few years running! Downside for many, no animals. Good luck in your search. I will be following this thread. Looking for the same thing on the water!

I've been to Camp Gulf in Destin twice and plan to go again next November. We love the resort and the beach is spectacular! We just went to Red Coconuts in Ft Myers a couple of weeks ago. It was crowded to be sure. The Campground has full hookups and adequate bathrooms. The beach is great there too. If given the choice (weather and distance factored in), Destin and Camp Gulf are much nicer!
