Thanksgiving

I will be staying the night at my parents house so I will be camping out at there house over night. Then off to Disney on Friday.Yeehaaa.My Mom always cooks so I will just supervise and be the royal taste tester to check if it is ok for everyone else to eat.
Even though it is only 15 to 20 minutes to get to there house on a day like this you dont want to eat and drive.

A Traditional Feast

Yes, we are camping with my sister and her husband (25' Airstream and 20' Argosy Minuet). We are having a traditional Thanksgiving feast:
  • 20lb turkey - we want lots of leftovers
  • Stuffing
  • Whipped potatoes
  • Squash (yuck)
  • Corn
  • Cranberry sauce, the kind from a can with the lines in it.
  • Creamed onions (yuck)
  • Popovers
  • Apple pie
  • Cheese cake
  • White wine throughout the meal preparation and consumption

Thanksgiving

We will be at Garner State Park again this year Wednesday through Saturday, but driving to Helotes, Tx for the afternoon for the "Thanksgiving Feast" then returning to the park that evening.

We are. Ill. Beach State park. The only time of year that we'd consider going there. A wednesday to saturday thing. Temps in the 30's, boondocking, alder and hickory smoked turkey, just my wonderful wife, books, rest.

Sounds like a great plan, Lev. My wife and I were thinking about camping at Killen's Pond State Park here in Delaware, putting out the word to some friends and family, then deep frying a small bird in pure peanut oil and waiting to see who shows up. The results are usually pretty good. Best case scenario: we get to spend some good times with some great people. Worst case scenario: we get to be alone together for a restful weekend.

Well that conjurs up some memories. I haven't been to Killen's Pond in 30 years. I remember going there as a teenager when I lived in Maryland between Delmar, De and Salisbury, MD. Have fun!

We are "camping" at the Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving. Cooking turkey, mashed potatoes, peas and onions, stuffing, biscuits in the AS, and of course savoring some delightful Tulocay Pinot Noir!

Ahhh...San Antonio. A nice place this time of year. Very quiet and peaceful and lots of wildlife. We spent Christmas there last year and there was nobody there. It was perfect!

Sea Cliff is near Santa Cruz if I recall. We usually stay at New Brighton which is on the same beach. We thought about going there for Christmas this year. Have Fun!

Unknowns

We're arriving at Everglades NP tomorrow for our first winter's work as interpative volunteers there. If there are other volunteers there already, guess we might have company for Thanksgiving - if not we'll fix a minifeast for two. We brought the roaster with us, hopefully we can find a turkey. We'll be there the whole winter, come visit if you're in the area.

We are going to Topsail Hill State Park in the Destin FL area for the Thanksgiving weekend. I will be cooking but not sure what yet but it probably will not be turkey since I will be preparing turkey and dressing for my customers at our restaurant and I will be tired of it I am sure. Davis
