Thanksgiving Dinner

We were early, our WBCCI Nevada Unit had a campout rally at Lake Mead NRA. on Saturday Nov 17. It is dry camping but gererators were available. I deep fried a 20lb bird. It gave our senior members who no longer pull their Airstreams a chance to attend a nearby rally and enjoy the dinner. They appreciated it very much. We were glad we made such a nice day for them.

Our Thanksgiving Pictures

Hard to believe our holiday is nearly over. Here are some pictures of our Thankgiving feast.

Just two rigs at our camping adventure this year. We are staying at Field and Stream Campground in Brookline, NH. Very nice and quiet here, in fact a fellow with a winter seasonal asked us if we were from Iceland as he has never seen "rolling" campers out this late in the season. Too funny. He said to us: "Don't you folks know it's winter now?" Well we do know it's winter, temps got down to 15 degrees last night. We had concerns about our water systems but both trailers made it through without issues. We both made sure we left our cabinet doors open (where there are water pipes) and we kept our furnaces cranked up. Tonight it will be in the mid 20s, nearly a heat wave......

What a neat thing to do for the senior members. I often wonder when I see an older Airstream up for sale from the original owners how it must feel to have reached an age where doing one of the things you loved so much is no longer possible. Karma to ya.

Thats it rub it in... I'm stuck at work. I must learn to manage my vacation time more wisely, or buy more lottery tickets. Enjoy yourselves!!

There's more!

We have the dutch oven outside next to the fire pit. We are cooking up a venison stew for tonight's dinner using the coals from the wood fire. I'll be heating up the leftover whipped potatoes in the galley oven shortly.

That sounds like a good idea. Living relatively near you, we've thought it would be cool to meet. Not sure what will happen next Thanksgiving but perhaps we'll meet there.

Cheers, Jerry

Don't know if this qualifies....

So when I explained to my brother - who flew in for Thanksgiving from Aruba (yeah, he's doing the "sailing around the world" thing) that he could either have a bedroom next to our daughters family with the chance of at least 2 crying younguns or the Airstream out back, he wisely decided on the Airstream. So you could say that he camped for Thanksgiving! And he really did appreciate his little Oasis out back.

We were off to San Antonio this year to see family. However that came to a screeching halt when we had a blowout just 1 1/2 hours into the trip. Which also took out the airbag suspension. Needless to say we had to turn around and cripple back home! :-(

My wife, me, and our 2 cats went out with the Texas Alamo Unit for 5 very enjoyable days in Boerne, TX. We really look forward to getting out with our trailer. I think we had 15 AS's show up for our rally.

I'll be at an boondocking Airstream rally in Quartzsite.

You are all invited. Check the upcoming rally page.

have had traditional thanksgiving dinner for the last 25 years at home.this year we are taking 9 days and going to fort wilderness in orlando.we will have traditional thanksgiving dinner buffet at one of the large hotels in orlando.tried to dine in the park but everything was booked unless i want to eat at 9:30 at night.dw decided that she would invite everyone to our house the weekend before we leave for a thanksgiving feast,so that feels left out.not sure how this works since two of our kids and one of our son in laws is going with us to fla? they say disney is down 13 percent this year ,but you certainly could have fooled me since im still trying to secure a golfcart for my stay.looking forward to some r&r and a chance to escape the northern cold for a little while.
