We plan on using: Tickfaw SP and Lake Fausse SP in Lousisiana for a future trip. Also Hunting Island and Crooked River as already mentioned.

We have stayed at all of these, you can't go wrong with thee selections.

Grand Isle SP in Louisiana is another good one. The drive down is slow but interesting, with houses on stilts on both sides of the road and cheap, fresh shrimp for sale every couple of blocks. Beautiful beach, new bathhouses.

We have been known to eat shrimp so often down there that we have gotten sick of it and had to swear off for awhile----if you can imagine.

If you make it by the South Georgia Coast, give me a shout... I can get huge shrimp right off the boat! not much fresher than that!

Try Mystic Springs Cove Airstream Park. 25 mi north of Pensacola in FL panhandle. Only $11/night. Owned by the local WBCCI club. Only Airstreams allowed. Rural area off nice 4 lane highway.

Traveling Issues.
What issues in terms of where you have stayed have you encountered? How about stops for supplies, laundry, services.. Good stops and bad stops encountered? Where have you stayed for emergency night over such as parking lots? Walmart?

Navarre Beach Campground

We thoroughly enjoyed Navarre Beach Campground. Although, the Beach Front site is expensive, it was awesome. Lots of trees and shade in the park. People were fantastic and everyone really enjoyed having the Airstream on the beach.

Lots of incredibly beautiful coastline in the Panhandle. We had a beachfront spot in Navarre with the Santa Rosa Sound spread in front of us and miles of white beach to walk. Wunnferul, and not as hot as further south in FL!

Unfortunately, most of the Fed ones in FL are primative camping. Most of these are in the Ocala Forrest. Alexander springs (great snorkle spot) is one I use to go to a lot as a kid but even their camp ground has no facilities. Wekiva State Park is being closed soon for renovation.

I have been to Oleno State Park in FL and it is a very nice state park. Manatee Springs is another nice park in FL. Our favorite state park in FL is St Joe on the gulf. We are going there end of Sept.

The definitive source on the Internet for Corps of Engineers campgrounds is:

http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/visitors/

I used this resource to find the Old Post Road campground on Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Arkansas back in May, and the Jamie Whitten Park campground in Fulton, Mississippi for my upcoming trip the first week of September.

The map interface is really handy for planning intermediate stops on a longer trip. For picking destination campgrounds, once you click on a state, you can check off the type of activities you're looking for, and it will give you a list of lake projects with those activities. Then from the project you can select the campsite on that project that best suits your needs.

I have so many places on my togo list within 200 miles of slidell it will take many years to get to them even if I camp 52 weekends peryear

So far I've been to one. 3 times and goining again this weekend(would have been 4 but issac closed it for labor day)

What place is this you may ask

Mcleod water park in kiln mississippi

I 10 exit13 then north 3 miles then west 2 miles
The park is ran by the water district not a state park

River front needs reservations sometimes but they have plenty of first come spots

I love this place

But on my list to rv(I've been to most already just not in a mh)
In la
Tickfall
Lake fausse
In ms
Buccaneer sp
In al
Dauphin island
Perdido
Fort blakely hs(on a river) north of mobile on the east side of the bay

That's 6 weekends and I have not went more than 120 miles

Needless to say my honey do list is being ignored because we go somewhere every weekend

There are so many places on my list I don't know how to choose
