Campgrounds On The Oregon Coast

Once again, friends, I am hunting for a campground. We are looking for a nice family/pet friendly campground on/near the Oregon Coast. This will be everyones first visit to Oregon. We are looking for a place to relax and let the kids play. Preferably on or in walking distance to the ocean/beach..... any ideas?

We will be heading down from Seattle and have no particular destination other than beach in mind.

for my money

the most beautiful beach in oregon is at Cape Blanco....however the beaches at Yachats and Beverly Beach near Newport are also great....and the beaches at Bandon are also great and of course there is Fort Stevens at Astoria.....tierra del mar and pacific city aren't bad either....

could go on and on

We do lots of camping at Beachside State Park between Yachats and Waldport as well as Beverly Beach which is just north of Newport -- both campgrounds are nice and have beaches you can walk for hours on. Newport also has a great harbor area with an aquarium that's fun. Sunset Beach near Coos Bay is nice also, more tidepools and shorter beach walks there.

Oh yeah, there's a fancy RV park just south of Yachats called Sea Perch, they have some spendy but amazing cliff sites...

I was all set for Beverly Beach. I looked at the dates we would be there (our traveling dates got pushed up by a month due to many circumstances. I discovered we would be there for a week and leaving the Saturday before Labour Day. There was 1 RV site available for reservation in the ENTIRE Oregon State Park system and we were 7 ft too long when from truck bumper to trailer bumper. However, I did get a site at Netartsbay which has beach access just 1/2 down the road. They say it's walking distance. Shawn just discovered how close it was to Tillamook which has many things we are interested in....so fingers crossed.

busy beaches

the state parks in oregon are welll used and getting a reservation, for me has always been way in advance. We stayed at Sea Perch near Yachats....it is not "fancy"....just pricy......$70.00 for a spot overlooking the ocean. It was a neat place to stay....but windy, windy, . We also stayed at Sea and Sand at DePoe bay in a spot right on the ocean @ $60.00 and was ok but somewhat crowded.

We are now at Netarts Bay Rv and Marina. It is right on the bay. beach access is about three miles up the coast at the Cape Lookout state park.

It is six miles from tillamook. It is a crab fishing and clam digging haven......

We like Sunset Beach State Park south of Coos Bay. Great location, good hook-ups, nicely wooded sites and within walking distance of great beach with tidal pools.

that is a great area

The road from Charleston to Bandon is a great trip. Don't miss the fabulous botanical gardens at Shore Acres and the hugh sea lion population at Simpson.

originally we weren't to arrive until after the schools had started and I thought since we travel on the weekends it wouldn't be a problem but move it up a couple of weeks...... and everything changes. We will be at Netarts Bay as well. From the internet pics it sure looks pretty....

We enjoyed Sea and Sand near Depoe Bay. Don't miss the restaurant Tidal Raves there in any event.
