Campground suggestions in Billing MT area

We will be traveling from Cody WY to Tongue River SP MT the last week in July -first week in August. We are planning to camp at Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area at Horseshoe Bend and Afterbay CG's with an overnight at Little Bighorn National Monument along the way. We have a couple of extra days traveling from Horseshoe Bend to Afterbay around the 1st of August we thought we would spend in Billings but the commercial CG options looked kinda pricey. Would welcome any suggestions for camping or sights to see in the Billings area.
Thanks
Benn

On our trip to Glacier National Park we had planned to stay at Cooney State Park, just a little west and south of Billings. Then a friend that lives in Bozeman suggested we go a couple of hours west to Livingston, MT and go south to Pine Creek campground. Of course this is a no electric campground on National Forest land. We only stayed one night and could not get reservations on our return trip, so stayed at the KOA right on the Yellowstone River.
That is a beautiful valley with the river running right down the middle.

Thanks Stan,
Cooney SP looks interesting. Livingston is a little further west than we would want to travel this trip.
We will keep it in mind when we plan our trip to Glacier NP in a few years.
Thanks again for your sugestions.
