Campground suggestions between New Orleans / Nashville

Can anyone suggest or know of any good campgrounds midway between New Orleans and Nashville, Tennessee. Any / all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Cracker Barrel Rest. Not being facious but if it's just a overnight stop it's the best, no hook ups, great food, clean, level, safe & by the way it's free.

It is a big country. Any idea what your projected route will be. There are several dry camping and inexpensive National Park Service campgrounds along the Natchez Trace.

I second on the Natchez Trace. There are many great spots to stop and there is no commercial traffic.

Another vote for Natchez Trace. There are some free campgrounds along the Trace like Jeff Busby in Choctaw County in Mississippi. Jeff Busby might be pretty much a half-way point.

How far are you wanting to drive before you stop? Are you stopping for the night or a few days? Are you going south to Mobile then across on I10 or heading southwest in Birmingham on 20/59? Nashville to new Orleans is only a 8 to 10 hour drive. Sunset Travel park in Cottondale Al. has good reviews and would be about halfway on the 20/59 route. Montgomery South rv park has good reviews and is about halfway on the 65 south to 10 route.

The Airstream only park at Mystic Springs is only $11 per night for all hookups if you take I-10 all the way to Pensacola and then north on 29 about 29 miles you will see sign on right for Mystic Springs road follow the signs very basic but big quiet lots, I have stayed there for a few days each time I am coming to LA.
Follow 29 North and it will put you back on I-65 its about 180 miles from NOLA to Mystic Springs.

We stayed at Clarkco State Park in Mississippi which was nice and no to far from Hwy. 59. Also Oak Mountain State Park close to Birmingham was another nice park we stayed at.

Stayed at Burchfield Branch this fall. It is a COR of Engineer campground, beautifull with 8-10 sites right on the river! Many other sites in the woods but nice and closer to the showers.
The road is one way in and one way out and 45 -60 minutes from the interstate. We were visiting my son in Birmingham and did not realize we're at least an hour away.
Would be a great place to stay a few days and go fishing. (Bring your own boat) Deep in the hills with no sewer, wi-fi, or cell service..we will return some day.

Oak Mountain is in Pelham. We stayed there this past summer and liked it. Not flashy but it covered the basics, and was a beautiful setting.
