We will be frequently traveling to Santa Cruz to visit our niece who will be a freshman at UC Santa Cruz this fall. Can anyone recommend some nice campgrounds in the area? Our first trip will be sometime in early November.
New Brighton is a nice place and they have 9 sites with hookups if you can get one. Other places nearby within 10 miles: Henry Cowell Redwoods SP (dry camping), Seacliff State Beach (dry), Manresa State Beach (dry), Santa Cruz/Monterey KOA (Hookups).

Yes, I agree that New Brighton is very nice. I was there in 2009 and the hook-ups were partial hook-ups. I think it was electric and fresh water but now sewer. Naturally they had a RV dump. The other thing is if you go one exit south at State Beach turn off, one short block towards the ocean, over the RR tracks is Manuel's Mexican Restuarant. (Very good local hangout). I wouldn't be too tempted at Seacliff State Park. It is very similar to Silver Strand. (Pavement with a hook-up). New Brighton is on a cliff and has tall trees and is in a forest. Photo is of my Bambi there.
New Brighton sounds nice!! We will definitely check it out and thanks for the tip on Manuel's... OB Bambi? Ocean Beach in San Diego? We live in Fletcher Hills just below Grossmont College... We have a 2006 Bambi and can't wait to go.. EVERYWHERE!
