Campground Guides

Are any printed campground directories being published today such as Trailer Life, etc.??

If not, any recommended campground guide apps? Do these require a Wi-Fi connection to operate?

We used the guides and maps that CSAA had to offer. They were a big help this past summer on our trip from Ca to Montana.
I also rely on an app called Allstays. I think I paid 7.99 but had been worth this one time charge. Check it out!

Allstays is a popular app cost about $10. Really nothing included that you can not find by using Google. Only benefit I can see is that it is a pretty good one stop source.

We have an older Good Sam, about 3" thick, and a Passport America, about an 1" thick. I rely on the Good Sam app and online tools. There is also the RVParky app which is free and has a lot of good information. Create an account at Reserveamerica.com, another good online tool for finding and reserving state and Federal campsites.

Passport America has had an app the past couple of years.

With that and AllStays, that is all I ever use

You can use Allstays RV without wifi if you go through the process of tracking your route while on wifi before your trip so that it can load the pertinent data along your route. It will remain in memory as long as you don't use programs on your portable device that require a lot of memory that ends up taking some of the memory that Allstays had used.

Woodalls is another good reference catalog. Their books are available free from AAA if you are a member.

We had a couple ask us if the Passport America discounts were a good deal. This was at a Park that they were paying 90% and we were paying half price. Do it. Now, there is a catch. Not all of the Passport America Parks are top drawer. For an overnight on the road it can be significantly better than a parking lot, but for a destination it may not be your ideal outcome. We spent 4 days in the rain for $80. A gravel parking lot that flooded a bit. But we got the washing done and rested up for more travel. The park manager located folks with separation so they had some privacy. It worked for us.

The other park guides are great as well. Just watch the dates of the on-line reviews. We got some out of date info on KOA camps when we used RV-Parky. The hard copy KOA catalog had the correct info.

Happy Holidays! Pat
