Campfire in a Can
I have been reading the posts on "Do you Like Campfires" and in a recent post "Campfire in a Can" was mentioned as a solution. I do like campfires but it is getting more difficult to haul wood from one state to another and I am also getting lazy in my old age and would like a quicker way to stare a campfire.
So I was wondering for those who own one could they tell me the pros and cons versus a regular campfire, how many different makes are there and where to buy.
Thanks
John

This Little Red Campfire is available at Camping World about
$130 +-. Small, compact and adjustable flame good for ambiance and or heat. I have one and love it. Most people that see it in operation decide to buy it. You will too.

Saw the Little Red Campfire at CW last weekend. I was tempted but resisted. I will have to do something before I take my grandkids in the Airstream as I'm planning on doing S'mores. (This may prove a great time to use the outdoor shower....)

I purchased a Camp Fire in a Can from Amazon. About $250.
The skeptical family was actually impressed.
(Photo borrowed from Campfire in a can Website)
Used it all weekend - we didn't smell like smoke...

I looked on Amazon and they were selling the Campfire in a can for 299. So I was wondering when you bought yours.
thanks

When wood campfires are verbotten as they are now in most of NM because of the drought. Propane campfires are legal.

I love my Little Red Campfire in a Can. It's about the same size at the one they are mentioning in this thread, but much cheaper - it's $111 on amazon right now with free shipping.
It's just so much more convenient to not deal with hauling firewood or buying those tiny bundles for $8.

I did very little research before I purchased my Campfire in a Can - so cannot really say it's better or worse than any others. A few folks across different forums indicated they liked them, so fine - off we go.
The highly skeptical family was actually impressed - so there's a testimony for you!
You might want to do some more reading before you pull the trigger on one...there is some comparison data on the Campfire in a Can website - but of course it will be bias towards their product.
Good luck.

The main reason I bought the Fire Dancer over other brands was the appearance of the fire. The Fire Dancer uses vermiculite to disperse the gas. I bought it thru Amazon when it was on sale and got free Prime shipping, so the price was a factor for the timing of the purchase.

I bit the bullet and bought the "fire in the can". I did look at most if not all of the others and checked a number of forums. In all cases the Fire in the Can got very good reviews except for the price. I am looking forward to using it and also not hauling or purchasing wood any more.

I'll more than break even on my purchase of my CFIAC through this camping season as compared with the purchase of wood at parks. So I didn't give the cost all that much notice.
And there's the other significant plus of not smelling like smoke.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all about it - just spendy (relative to say my grill at home) - I can see how with it you can save - just I woul think they could sell at a fraction and still make good profit ?
But all seem to be 200-300 so far - all expensive in my book - Xmas 2014

It's all about volume. There's not much too to the design - if every camper were buying them they would be $59.95...

I agree with you. If more people were to buy them then the prices should go down. Overtime I suspect they will, especially with the increase bans on fires and the transportation of firewood from one state to another.
