Camp Grounds Near Dollywood

Our original vacation plans to Calico Rock, Ark. got cancelled. So we are thinking about going to Tennessee instead. We were wanting to try Dollywood first. Can anyone recommend a good RV park close by? And any other things you locals can recommend in that beautiful state. We will be in Tenn. for a for a week Any recommendations would be thankful.

I see no one has responded with help for this post. Because several forum members live nearby this region and may not have seen this post, I'm bumping it today. I hope you receive some suggestions ~G

We've visited this area a few times and loved it. There are plenty of RV parks in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area, but we have always stayed at Tremont Hills in Townsend, TN. Thats about a 45 minute scenic drive away and certainly more quiet in the evening than staying at a place on the "strip".

You might want to check out RV Park Reviews :: Home

If you can get in, Elkmont in the National Park is very nice, with the river running thru it. No electric, no showers, water at the bathroom buildings, dump station outside the campground.
It may be packed this time of year, but who knows?

We stayed @ Twin Creek in Gatlinburg which is a short 20 minute ride to Dollywood. Also Gatlinburg was a pretty cool little town and is very close to the entrance of Smokey Mtn Nat Park. Twin Creek was small but very nice. Good luck, have fun!!

I echo the Clabaugh recommendation. Matter of fact, I think we stayed there because of Silverthreads post last year, so thank you. It's quite nice and the folks were really friendly and helpful.

There's tons to do in the area, but when we're there we spend most of our time in the Smokey National Park mostly hiking to the gorgeous waterfalls. There's several that don't require long hikes and maps/guides can be picked up at the Park Visitors Center. Tubing and white water rafting are popular activities in the summer. I also think there might be some rafting that's calmer. Btw, the park has auto touring guides too you don't like to hike.

Have a great trip .. I can't wait till we get there this fall!!

Oh, I should add that another favorite of ours there is the Krispy Kreme store in PF!!

Dollywood

Last July(2007) we stayed at Waldens Creek Campground. We used our Pass Port America membership and stayed 10 days ...$12.00 during the week and $25.00 on weekends. This is a small campground with full hook-ups and a gracious manager. You are close to everything down town and Dollywood. Make sure you buy a season pass if you are there more than a day, you get free parking and 20% off all food and souveniors. You will love the area...We also drove down to the Smokies..don't miss Cades Cove drive(plan a day for that). This area is Great!!! I wanna go Back!! "Obie" AirstreamHobo

twin creek

I second the twin creek recomondation. We stayed there several years ago. This is one of the nicest parks we have ever stayed in. I am looking forward to going back.
