Calgary to Vancouver 2010

We're in the planning phase for our summer trip. If things go as planned we'll travel to Glacier NP, MT in late June and then on to Calgary. From there we'll stop around Banff and head up to Jasper. Leaving Jasper we are looking at Tans-Canada 16, crossing into BC and picking up 5 down to Kamloops.

The Okenagan Valley looks interesting so would also try to see that area before heading to Vancouver. The route on to Vancouver would depend on where we leave the Okenagan valley

Looking at previous threads some travel on Trans-Canada 1 towards Vancouver. Not being familiar with either route ( 1 or 16 & 5) looking for suggestions/comments about both.

All the roads you inquired about are or were in good shape when we traveled 3 years ago. you may want to take a look at Waterton National Park in alberta Take a boat ride to Glacier national park montana is not unaccessable from us side another area you might like is Ainsworth hot springs Kaslo New Denver Nakusp (hot springs) Then over to Vernon in the Okanagan Gold rush country nice senery lots and lots of wilderness not to much in the way of people Have a nice trip. if you have any more questions just ask...Bill

Thanks Bill. Looking at map, we'll go right past Waterton NP if we enter Canada from the Glacier areain Montana and Vernon is definitely enroute through the Okenagan Valley.
