CA Hwy 88 from Bay Area to Kirkwood

Hi all,

I'm headed to Lower Blue Lake in August which is just past Kirkwood on 88 in the Sierra, the campground says my site can accommodate a 30' trailer and Campsite photos show some 5th wheel type trailers, but wondering how Hwy88 is from the Bay Area direction...? anyone know this road? I'm reasonably confident but this would be only my 2nd outing with the AS and first into the High Sierra! I'm a little nervous just headed up there without knowing the road. I would imagine far easier if arriving from the Reno direction and these large trailers may well have come from there.

many thanks !!
