Tea tree oil. It's like stinky magic. All bitey bugs seem to hate the smell.

We bought both the lantern and the flat (more portable model). We use the lantern when sitting around outside camping, but would use the other if hiking.

I just bought the "appliance" model at Walmart, together with a holster and a couple of refills. They didn't have any of the lantern models. Going camping this weekend, and the weather at Chicot State Park, LA should be warm enough for mosquitoes to be out, so I'll see how it works.

Still confused about one thing, though. The owner's manual says "do not attach to clothing" yet they make a belt-clip holster for it. What's up with that?

Not that I intend to wear it. The belt clip on the holster means I can easily clip it to the edge of my awning fabric near the side door.

Protag, please post a report on your war on skeeters after your trip.

Adding some things to my shopping list...tea tree oil, dryer sheets, bug coils, vitamin B, and lite weight long pants.

Need bug screens for the front windows on the Interstate. Found some at Outside Van, but they are revamping their design and they're not out yet.

Try Eurocampers.com.
2007 - 2014 Sprinter Cab Door Window Screens
These are bag-shaped and simply slide down over the top of the door, so with the window open you've got two layers of screen between you and the bugs.
