Smile Brownsville Tx RV Park referrals?

We're traveling to Brownsville Tx in July and are wondering if anyone might have some recommendations for a good RV park to stay at for a few days.
I checked the Padre Island KOA, which is a good option, but we'll be attending a wedding and related events in the central Brownsville area so thought maybe something closer to town might be something to consider. Google lists several parks down that way but just wondered if any of y'all might have any preferences from past experiences. Thanks!

Well, since I never heard from anyone we went ahead and reserved a spot at the S Padre KOA.....guess I'll let you folks know how that goes when we return home. Looks like a nice place, some on line reviews indicated that it's a good place to spend a few days.

For any who might be interested: The Brownsville area KOA turned out to be a nice stay. The KOA is actually on S. Padre Island and very easy to get to since it's just off SH 100 that takes you onto the island. Our visit there was the weekend after July 4th and they were sold out. Glad we made reservations far in advance. The park thinned out during the weekend as travelers who'd taken the week off began their return home trips. We stayed thru the weekend and returned on Monday so our weekend there was quite pleasant. The S. Padre KOA is a well laid out park, although the pull thru sites are a bit short, requiring most trailer haulers to disconnect once parked. We didn't mind that since we were going back and forth into Brownsville as well as visiting other spots on the island. But for an overnighter, the pull thru sites there would require a disconnect for most due to the shortness of the sites. Lots of palm trees, a nice ocean breeze, and additional extras provided by the KOA make for a good stay. I'd recommend it and would stay at this KOA again, although would probably try to schedule my trip so that it doesn't coincide with a holiday. 9 hours door to door from Dallas, with the 27FB in tow. S. Padre reminds me a lot of central Florida and the Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach area. Nice water, nice beach, and a relaxing place to unwind and refuel the brain cells.

Love to see others use their A/S for events like weddings. We prefer doing the same. Went up to Bardwell Lake last summer for a Waxahachie wedding. Had most of the wedding party at our camp for bbq, swimming, kayaking and fishing-- before and after the wedding.
Incidentally, enjoyed reading your review of S. Padre KOA. We will be there in 2 wks. Husband and I are taking our first trip in 16 yrs w/o kids [unbelievable] for our anniversary. Thanks again for the info.

KOA Padre

Thanks for the review - we'd run accross their ad before and bookmarked it as a possible for whenever we got down that way. As to the 3rd coast, we've only stayed around Corpus, Portland & Port A area. Seabreeze in Portland was nice - didn't feel like we were in a RV condo park.... Had some friends who stayed at On The Beach in Port A and said it was A-OK (off season).
