...Breaking News!

Somewhere the State of California has found enough money to keep the state parks open here. Every year during the budget crunch between the state legislature and governor, they all threaten to close the parks, fire all the police and firefighters and a few other things that the public wants and needs. Strangely enough they never seen to threaten to disolve something like the Garbage Board. (This is a group of ex-state officials that get a cush job at the taxpayers expence). Anyway according to the San Diego Union, Governor Arnold has found a way to save the parks.

I'm glad that the parks could be saved. I'm assuming that the state politicians have figured out a way to make a bunch of money for themselves and their friends by saving the parks.

I was not sure how they were actually going to close them? It would take as many people to patrol to keep folks out as it would to maintain a presence there. Maybe we will have volunteer work day at the state parks? LOL

California is such a mess.

Thanks for the update, Randy...that's great news...let's hope the trend extends to Arizona...it would be a crying shame to lose any of our state parks...

You know, The state of California would make a lot more money if they would inforce license plate renewals, businesses paying state taxes, and some of the driving regulations, never mind, just a thought.

I'm glad about the parks, because I like camping in them.

Randy,
Thanks for spreading the great news.
Cuyamaca is a quick 9 miles away and we always visit Anza Borrego in the winter/spring...
The States parks are always a showcase for the local regions. We'll be in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado next mont, mostly staying in State Parks.

The Arizona State Parks receive about 0.1% of the total State budget, and most of that is recovered from entrance/user fees. Since the State Parks are almost self supporting any savings from closing parks is insignificant.

Gee, how generous of them. And to think of the money California "gives away" to people who aren't even here legally. Oh, never mind...
