Breaking and entering
My wife is worried that when we leave our AS in a storage area that someone will break into it. I told her that with both locks locked, it would take a crow-bar to open that door or a really good locksmith. Am I right?

I leave mine unlocked and take anything worthwile out of the trailer. That way I don't have to fix a window or door that was pried open.

The Windows Are The Weak Link
I was parked close to a 4 lane street in South Tulsa, Oklahoma, beside my sister-in-laws home, which was beside my parents home about 6 years ago. I was asleep in the rear of my 2002 ASCL 31'; my oldest son (about 20 at the time) was asleep on the couch with his head close to the window beside the door and my youngest son (about 17 at the time) was taking a shower.
A thief started prying on the door with a screw driver which aroused my oldest son who in his sleep thought I was doing something outside. Failing to pry the door open the thief put the screw driver under the center of the locked window glass next to the door and pressed it down on the window frame in an effort to force the lock. The tempered glass shattered which further awakened my son. Standing on the steps, the thief tried to reach through the broken window to access the door locks. My son was now more awake and grabbed his arm which the thief was able to withdraw and proceeded to run away.
My son awakened me, we called the police, etc.
My younger son showered through it all. He's a 2nd degree blackbelt in karate and had he been sleeping on the couch and grabbed the thief's arm the outcome probably would have been much different. Where are they when you need them!

They used a crowbar on mine.
The only thing they took was a battery operated drill and left behind $2300 in damages. Oh yeah, they also left the crow bar.
At the time I had no other options but to use a storage facility.

Better put a note on the door: "If yer going to break in, please do it through one of the flat windows, not the curved ones, please!"
I get what you say about the damage, Gary. I'ts not like the are breaking a wood door with a twenty-dollar lock in it.

We don't have our AS yet, waiting on the truck, but I do what Doug does with my cars. I leave a note, door is not locked, open at your own risk. Far as we can tell even in major cities, airports etc no one has opened the door.

Speaking of thieves - I was recently traveling in the NE corner of Utah and saw a 69' Caravel on the side of the road with a for sale sign in the window.
The owner was asking $12,500 for this "rare" piece of history. Front door locked but the hitch coupler left unlocked in the up position just waiting for someone to back up to her and get a free Airstream!
This was in a town full of oil and gas workers where everyone has a truck. Brave man.
