Now that I've got the Bubble stripped on the inside, I have to tow it several miles on the Freeway to have some work done. However, after towing it today just a few miles to AAA for registration (they were great GREAT to deal with), the old gal just bounced all over the place. Too light right? Any suggestions - I have one 70# sack of sand I can throw in over the axle but any guesses as to how much weight I'll have to add to calm her down. Also, the floor furnance has been removed, leaving a hole in the floor (clear through) that's probably an 18" square - any problem there?
Based on a discussion I had with the owner of a 65 Bambi, the bouncyness is there even with the interior installed. He likes to say that the he gets really good mileage while towing because the Bambi spends half the time it is being towed in the air.
I would say add more than just one bag of sand..........

Well we went and bought 4 sacks of QuikCrete cement and another 60 sack of sand (we're rebuilding a fence and can use it all) for a total of 380 lbs and it didn't seem to matter much. Spouse tried moving the bags from directly over the axle to some in the back - not much changed. So we took the backroads - Hwy 1 along the Central Coast and enjoy an absolutely gorgeous drive to Paso Robles' Trailer Barn - they're doing up an axle/brake/etc estimate for me - they build and sell horse trailers - some of which have fantastic living quarters for people, complete with potty & shower. Wow. Course, I can't ride a horse and they tend to stand on my feet.... and produce lots of methane gas. The guy did say to let a little air out to my tires on the trip home - his antibounce solution. Oh yeah, and new leaf springs.
