Bodega Bay, anyone have any scoop?

Hello, I'm planning on a long weekend in the Bodega Bay area with my 22 ft'r. From the internet search I'm seeing Wrights beach as being on the ocean, and Bodega Dunes which looks like its in the bay. All the others appear to be hike in/boat in. Any suggestions from anyone who's camped in the area?

Doran Beach - a regional campground on a spit of land that separates the harbor from Bodega bay. It can get breezy, but very nice spot.

Wright's Beach is my wife's favorite park. Click image for larger version

This photo is around spot #5. The crashing waves are so loud they will wake you up at night. My only problem is that Wright's has no sewer dump. You must drive back down to Bodega Dunes to dump.Click image for larger version

The second shot is from around spot #7 or #8.

We love Wrights but no hookups! Sites 1-10 are on the beach pretty much. The rest are close by. Great hiking on the Kortum trail just above Wrights North to Goat rock.

We stay there at least once a year.

1. We have stayed at Bodega dunes, it's sheltered if the winds pick up - harbor is close by, and you can drive your TV up to the beach - no hookups, but the dump station is nearby...

2.Wright's Beach is nice, but difficult to get a spot there due to small number of spots and it's popularity...

3. Doran Beach is also popular - it's open to the winds out there on the jetty near the Bay, and can be nasty if there's 'weather'...

4. There's a private RV park up on the highway, just to the North of town - haven't stayed there - looks like an asphalt parking lot type park...

When you're there, try to visit the Spud Crab Co. 'Restaurant' in the harbor - great crab cakes, chowder, etc... don't forget the Dungy Crabs are still in season and fresh...!!! Spud Point Crab Company, Bodega Bay - Restaurant Reviews - TripAdvisor

Bodega Bay

I just returned from 5 days at Doran Beach, I love it there. It's a county park so dogs are allowed, on leash. State parks don't allow dogs on trails etc. There's a dump station and some beautiful views great beach walks. I prefer the first camping area rather than the Jetty which is too exposed. Spud Pt Crab is a great place for fresh crab/clam chowder.

Just down the road from Spud Point Crab Company is Westside Campground. This another Sonoma County Parks campground (like Doran Beach). We prefer this campground as it is a little more protected than Doran, and it is walking distance from Spud Point Crab Company :P. I can launch my kayak right across the road from my campsite, too.

No one mentioned Porto Bodega...a private campground near town. Sites have hook-ups, I believe, but it can get pretty crowded in there if it's full.
