Hi, Ken. Trucks and vehicles with trailers are supposed to drive in the two right lanes except where permitted. I follow the trucks and truck signs.

Hi, yes; This could also be a problem in many ways. Doing 55 MPH in the carpool lane, you could get a ticket for not going with flow of traffic and speeding. Also for not being in lanes for trucks and vehicles with trailers.

Lately I see that I must stay in the right or right center lane with a trailer, but I see big trucks passing in the next lane over all the time.

California must use numbers with different values since the 55 limit for trailers seems to mean 62 or 63. I just follow a tractor/trailer.

Gene
Hi, Gene; I usually go with the big rigs and sometimes even pass them. Following the trucks we go about 60 to 65 MPH. My Lincoln has been known for passing almost everything in the two right lanes while going up steep grades; Don't let anyone know about this because half ton gas tow vehicles are supposed to be gutless. Going with the flow of traffic [secret law] we sometimes go 80 MPH. [this is without our trailer] We also have Express Lanes where you have a transponder in your vehicle and get a monthly bill according to your use. The Express Lane charge changes according to the traffic; more traffic, the price goes up. I don't have or want one of those.

With the new Express lanes on CA 110 in LA you need a transponder to use the carpool lane(s). If you have the transponder and 2 or more people in the car it is free (without the transponder you are subject to getting a hefty fine $$$$$), if there is only one in the car you can still use the carpool lane but are charged a fee. Just another way for the city to generate additional revenue streams in roads built with taxpayer dollars.

Hi, Scott. Before I reprogrammed Georgette to not direct me onto the toll roads and carpool lanes, she sent me onto this freeway, on a car pool only entrance. I was coming home from the LA Auto show. It was hard to understand how it worked so I sneaked out of that lane before I hit the barriers that locked you in. I later found out that the fines didn't start until about two days after I was Shanghaied into that lane.

Bob & Lee's random trip.

I found a good way to frustrate Ms. Mystery (my GPS). Two years ago, I was returning home from Ohio and was on a US highway in Indiana that was being upgraded to four-lane divided. The new road was approximately 800 yards from the original road bed . . . and Ms. Mystery couldn't figure out why I insisted upon driving on an "Unmarked/Unknown" road. Ms. Mystery recalculated about once every five minutes. . . . .This went on for 24 miles until we were re-routed onto the original road.

I know, I asked you this question before.

Hi, due to the extreme cost of motor vehicle fuel in California, we are taking another trip without our Airstream. Just kidding, sort-of. We are soon to be floating from country to country on another Cruise Ship. This will be our cruise number two. And since this, not a random trip, and will be without our trailer, the question is: Do you want to read and see pictures of cruise number two?

Well, perhaps it's not exactly random, but it is a trip, Bob, and I, for one, would love to read and see pictures of your cruise number two!

BTW, thanks for the previous threads and posts that you have made here!

Hi, yes Neil, we have to leave Boo-Boo at home. We have a relative who will be living in our house and taking care of Boo-Boo so he will be in his own surroundings. And hopefully not lonely.

Hi, Thank You. I will do my best to make you feel like you are with us on this trip. Last time, we were unable to have WIFI and I had to do my report after we got home. I'm hoping that we get WIFI this time. If I'm silent for about two weeks, then you will know why.

Hi, I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, so I'll just say that we will start somewhere in Denmark. [actually we will start at LAX]

Patti (my wife) and I are planning a cruise in 2014 on Princess that begins in Copenhagen as well and stops in various northern european cities. So you really will have our attention, Bob.

Take us to Europe Bob. Will this be a river cruise perhaps?

I wonder if ever a cruise company can create deck space to place Airstreams for alternative 'cabins'.
