Hi, this morning we left Chicago and drove to Greenfield, Indiana. We are at another KOA and will be here for three nights. We will be visiting places in Indianapolis.

The skydeck looked pretty scary. Im not a big fan of standing on something i can see through lol. I may have missed it but do you plan on see the factory? Not too far away at this point. How about the RV museum in Elkhart? RV/MH Hall of Fame - Museum - Library - Conference Center

Hi, Vinnie; I'm not good with heights either, But if it looks mechanically sound in construction, I'm OK with it. This was very mild compared to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. I want to go to Elkhart too. And the Aistream factory. We trying to figure out the best to get to these places without backtracking too much.

Hi, today I drove to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and toured the Hall of Fame. They also took us on a bus tour to the track and into the press boxes Etc. I was able, to later, stand on the famous bricks. And even later, I took a ride, as a passenger in a Lee Petty Ford; Three laps at around 165 MPH. Whoo-Hoo.

Dove Dark Chocolate.

Hi, those of you who actually know us and those who follow our random trip thread will understand this. I eat one Dove Dark Chocolate every night. Inside of the wrapper, Dove writes a little comment, or statement. The night before last night I got this one and it is so correct for us.

Bob,

Have you seen the RR museum in Duluth? That was a pretty good one too. I always liked the Sonette, but was a grad student and couldn't afford it until I fell in love with a '65 TR4a and found a way to buy it. I watched a car restoration show last night with the exact same '65 TR, even red, being mounted on a '68 chassis. I'm surprised any TR bodies have lasted since mine was rusting through after 3 years. That car, while fun to drive, was badly made.

I would never go out on that glass floor. I know as soon as I stepped onto it, it would dissolve and that would be the end of me. If I'm going to go splat, I'd rather do it from the Empire State Building. I'm familiar with big city driving, but I'm glad not to have to do it often—it is fun for a while, but gets tiring.

Another museum—in Auburn, Ind., the Auburn museum is the best we've seen (only big one we haven't been too is the one in LA)—Auburns, Cords and Deusenbergs were made there and they have quite a few plus other cars. It is in the corporate hdqrs. and showroom from the '20's and '30's. Auburns were good cars, fast, good looking and if I had infinite money, I'd have one. FL Wright had an orange coupe—I think it is there (unless I saw it in a small car museum in Gateway, Colo.).

You'll be going right by this place on your way to Gig Harbor.

You've now done two things I would never do. Like Vinnie, I wouldn't stand on the glass corner and certainly wouldn't let anyone drive me 165 miles a hour. I saw the view from the Sear's tower just fine from a safe distance and I did take a ride in a 1955 Porsche Spyder racecar, but by choice didn't go very fast at all. For the most part I'm enjoying this trip we're on but I'm not interested in any more high places and fast rides. Thank you very much!

Hi, Carol; My wife wants me to get over my fear of heights. And I'm doing pretty good so far. I don't like open areas with low railings or slippery dirt paths in the mountains with drop offs on both sides. [Bryce Canyon Etc.] As for the car ride, I would be OK with 200 MPH. I have myself driven to about 125 or 130 MPH. In cars and on a motorcycle on the streets, but no more.

Relaxation day.

Hi, today was mostly a relaxation day. My plan was to check and fill my propane tanks. So far, on this trip, I used one tank of propane. They charged me like $38.00 which I believe is high, but oh well! I also drove around looking for Mosquito lotion because mine is going to run out at this rate. I have to put it on every day. I have the spray cans, but I don't want to spray my face with them. The mosquitos like Bob and Lee, but leave Dusty alone. [no-one has my lotion] I'm afraid that if I give Dusty a bath, he will be attacked too. I got a tank of gas for the truck and came home to do nothing. We are moving again tomorrow so I hitched my trailer up. I was going to do this earlier, but another thunder storm moved through. In the morning, I will remove my tongue jack foot, sewer hose, water hose, and power cord. And hit the road.

Ken, I'll check out the museum to see if it fits in with our trip.

The fastest I've ever driven was around 105, but I can't remember which car or cars I've done it with. I distinctly remember going 95 in a '72 Jeep CJ5—that was really scary as that was a very badly made vehicle, but I wanted to see how fast it would go. I think it would have gone faster than 95, but that was fast enough for me. The fastest ever in a car was in 1959 on US 20 in NJ in a Corvette driven by Donald Trump's older brother, Fred. Fred did things with with zest and was driving at 125 while I just sat quietly there hoping it would be over soon. Fred and I went to the same college and lived on the same block in NYC. Donald was a young, pushy kid who we older kids tried to ignore, a thing not easy to do even 50 and 60 years ago. I never asked Fred for another ride.

Bob, I have found that as I get older, a day of rest every week or even more is necessary. Just can't drive and play as much. I always try to push the limits of acrophobia, but some things get to me. The worst ones are big drop offs, especially without guard rails, while Barb is driving. I know there's a control issue going on, because when I take the wheel, I feel much better. I don't think the guard rails would be that much help vs. a 3 ton truck and a 3.5 ton trailer, but they make me feel better. I prefer drop offs with lots of trees so the trees can catch us on the way down, but so far I have had to rely on that since we have stayed on the road. My father was much worse and undoubtedly taught me to fear heights, but I know it is hard to unlearn such things as a adult. I have been to the Empire State Bldg. 3 times and that doesn't bother me much, maybe because it has always been there so long as I've been alive. But you're in the plains now, so as long as you stay away from tall buildings you'll be ok until you get to Buffalo. The City Hall observatory is around 35 stories.

You're crazier than me, Gene.

Hi, I had a 1978 Jeep CJ-5 with a 304 Cu In V-8 and the fastest that I drove that vehicle was 85 MPH. That is scary fast with a very short 83" wheel base and large Armstrong True Track off road tires.

I needed a break; Still Dusty gets me up once, twice, and even three times each morning and I can't say no to him. Besides, he can't hear my anyhow, and when you have to go, you have to go. Us old dogs know the feeling.

Today was a relative short drive to Jackson Center, Ohio. With only 24 spaces, We were concerned about not getting in. But who is going to show up on a Sunday????? SEVERAL.

Bob,

My '72 Jeep had a Continental engine that loved gas. I think that was a 304. The engine blew in the winter of '77-'78 and I had to replace it, but the mechanic forgot to install a pilot bearing and that screwed up the clutch a year later. That Jeep was one of the worst vehicles I have ever owned. But it was yellow and attracted a lot of attention from girls.

The parts department—always lots of toys to excite. My favorite are the Airstream trailer Christmas lights. Have fun.

Hi, today we left the Airstream factory and made it to Michigan. We are camped out at Camp Dearborn; This is a really huge place and nice too, but WIFI is weak and only works at the office or the Canteen. We are parked by the Canteen and using WIFI while sitting inside of my truck.
