My wife says they travelers were most likely Mennonites. They are permitted to have automobiles and appliances and probably generators. Lynn is a fan of the Amish programs on TV.

We were very lucky to find a parking space in the upper parking area so we wouldn't have to unhitch our trailer. People were parking their cars in the RV parking area. Today it was cool enough to leave Dusty in the trailer. On most of our trip up to this point it was way too hot so we had to have one person stay in the truck with Dusty, with the air conditioner on. Later that day we made it to Wall, South Dakota and found a camp ground within walking distance of the famous Wall Drug store. We were going to get Buffalo burgers again and share one with Dusty, but instead opted for roast beef and ham dinners. Dusty was just as happy with the Ham and roast beef left overs. Sorry, no buffalo meat for Dusty.

Most of the place is original except for Laura Ingalls house which was reproduced as close to original as possible. They have a large grass area for tent camping, a cabin, several covered wagons for rent. They also have four RV camp sites, but they were all taken. We dry camped in the dirt parking lot for $10.00 per night. Most all of the tent campers were Amish people. They drove there in several vehicles, most of which were black. I spied a Honda generator running inside of a black plastic container with the ends cut out and connected to something inside of a Chevy van. Probably a small refrigerator.

We made it to Henderson City, MN and spent the night in a city park / campground with water and electric. Nice place for $20.00 per night, we some how stayed for free.

[not open yet] Again, we were not impressed. The stores were nicer, but the intertainment value didn't come close to the Edmonton Mall in Canada. After leaving the Mall, we drove to Alma Center, Wisconsin and we are now at a KOA. We have been going too far too fast, so we are going to try and slow down. My over all gas mileage while towing mostly at 65 MPH is right at 10.8 MPG. truck and trailer are doing great so far. At this point, we have not yet unhitched the truck from the trailer.

A mall with all the stores closed sounds like the best of all malls to me. No chance to spend more money. I think I have the Corn Castle confused with another corn building which I assume has to be in Iowa (where else?).

Bob, you are going to all the places we never go to, so you are saving us a lot of time. How about stopping at Taliesen in Wisconsin? We've been to Talisen West in Scottsdale, but haven't made it to Frank Lloyd Wright's original one.

Indescribable in their own words.

Hi, today we went to see the "House on the Rock" in Spring Green, Wisconsin. This place is indescribable and has so many odd things that there is no real place to start or finish. I will post only a few pictures of what we saw today. The place is so large that we got tired of walking and were worried about Dusty in our trailer, that we left early without seeing everything that our tickets allowed. We parked the trailer in the shade and it was cloudy, but still somewhat warm out. There is a Frank Lloyd Wright house nearby, but Lee said to skip it. There is a more famous one somewhere else that we might stop to see.

For some unknown reason WIFI won't let more post more pictures.

Bob, we always have wifi problems and more and more it limits anything but e-mail and a little browsing. And my iPad won't even recognize most of it. Those photos are weird; can't imagine the rest.

There are a lot of FL Wright houses around the greater Chicago area because he worked there. Taliesin (East) was his retreat for many years. There is a pretty spectacular one in Springfield, Ill. too.

I an guessing, from what you wrote that you missed the house on the rock itself. If so, it is worth another stop if you go through there again. The infinity room is worth the stop in itself.

Hi, Gene; we changed our minds and went back to see the Frank Lloyd Wright house. What an imagination and definitely different. But not as nice as others we have seen. We both agreed to the fact that the workmanship was poor. Lee said that I do much better work. He used lots of pine wood, hammered nails in everywhere, and filled with putty. We were not impressed with the build quality, [good thing that it is out of warranty] We found a shady spot to park, because we had to leave Dusty in the trailer. It was completely overcast and in the low seventies. Near the end of our tour, we were worried about Dusty because the Sun came out. Good thing that the tour was only two hours.
