Not so random, maybe?

Hi, we planned the forum rally last year so it wasn't so random. On Friday we made it to the "Jackson Rancheria" rally and stayed until Monday morning. It was a great rally with lots of friends, new and old. See the Jackson Rancheria rally thread for more information and fun.

Sort-of random?

Hi, our unplanned, plan is to go to South Dakota. Weather permitting, we will see what happens. Monday before noon we left Jackson Rancheria and headed east on HWY 88. Driving throught the winding roads, I saw a deer on the right side of the HWY; He, or she suddenly looked like it was going to cross the street just when we were pretty close. I hit the brakes and the horn, the deer changed his/her mind and ran the other way, saving it's life and spareing my Lincoln's grill. After that Lee and I noticed that our hearts were working very well, pumping hard for quite a while. That night we made it to Winnemucca, NV. Hi-Desert RV Park.

Bob, I think snow is ahead of you on the other side of the Rockies. As I recall, cold weather is somewhat alien to you, so pick up a snow brush, gloves, hats and take it easy.

We're leaving for JC in a could of weeks and maybe our paths will cross in mid-America.

Have a good trip.

Dark clouds in the sky!

Hi, Tuesday morning we left Winnemucca, NV. and drove all the way through Utah. We ended up at Rock Springs RV Park in Rock Springs, WY. At "O" dark 30 We pulled in to the Rock Springs KOA. I'm still shivering; And my water hose froze too. The workers were very helpful with getting my propane tanks filled; We might even hit colder weather and I don't want to run out of propane. Both tanks were at half..........well one was half empty and the other was half full. We left Rock Springs right after the propane adjustment. Note: we tanked up the Lincoln for $2.55 a gallon, and that's premium. Tonight we are at the opposite side, or east side of Wyoming in B.J.'s Campground in Lusk Wyoming. It is a small clean campground with pull throughs, 30 Amp service, and cable TV, but no water. Good thing I filled my fresh water tank in Rock Springs. Also we have WIFI or I wouldn't be able to post these updates.

Hi, Gene. If we make it to South Dakota, that will be as far east as we will go this trip. Randomly we will figuer out which way back to home; Possibly Arches National Park on the way.

Near hit.

Hi, as we were about ten miles from Lusk a big rig changed lanes on me; I was in the only lane, speed control locked on 65 MPH, and the truck was passing me on the left. But as he came back into to the right lane, his trailer's rear wheels were in line with my front wheels. I am not a panic driver; I let off of the gas pedal [throttle] and drifted slightly to the right as he passed, or we would have been hit and off the road. I don't know if he was just careless driver with bad judgement, or just an idiot.

Hi Bob,

You guys have done some traveling for sure! Glad you missed the deer and trucker.. I would say bad judgement on both for them and a watchful eye for you. Post some pictures when you can. We love traveling with you guys.

Vinnie

Bob, don't know how long you plan to be in SD, but I expect you'll be coming far south to avoid winter on your way back.

Was this your first frozen hose? It takes once to learn to remove and drain it for the night (well, maybe, for a Californian, it takes a couple of times).

Glad you missed that truck. There are a lot of oil and has company trucks in Wyoming driven by crazy people who seem to have a meth habit because the hours are so long.

Hi, Gene. I think, but could be wrong, about three days in South Dakota. Maybe we will stop off at your house on the way back until the weather clears. This was our third frozen hose; One campground said to let the water drip all night with the gray tank valve open. I saw an electric hose for $180.00 today, but I'll live.

Hi, Vinnie. I only took few pictures so far, se if I can post them.

Bob: I could tell by looking at that last photo that your AS tires were "itching" to get out there and test the salt. Could have been a new AS speed record. Did you see Burt Munro on his Indian? I'm glad to see your new adventure up. I enjoyed it back at the start of this past summer. Thanks, Randy

You might have to stay all winter. Of course you can leave the trailer here and fly home while I strip it for parts ("any item left more than 30 days will be sold for parts, thank you, the mgt.").

Snow in Lusk.

Hi, Gene mentioned snow, and this morning there was snow. If you strip my trailer, Gene, I'll have to find a local lawyer. Neil, glad you enjoyed the cream puffs. OB Bambi, we saw the Indian movie, it was really interesting. As for the Airstream on Salt Flats, I think it would give a lot of forum members a heart attack to see me do it on eight Goodyears tires.
