Hi, great to know someone's missed us. Thank You. We left Dawson Peak camp ground and headed South. We planned on staying at the Red Goat camp ground again, but Bob missed the driveway and after about ten miles of road, with no place to turn around, our plans changed. We made it to the gas station in the middle of nowhere for another dose of regular gas. My Lincoln doesn't like this regular anymore and has started to ping at times. Looking for another place to stop for the night, as I left the gas station, we noticed they have a camp ground in back. At the desk, a sign stated that they only have 15 Amp power, but when I asked about a space, I was told that they only have two spaces left. No hook-ups of any kind for $$$$$. I drove on. This was the longest one day drive of our trip. We ended up at a real nice state park, with no hook-ups for about half the price as the one at the gas station. So we stayed for two nights. No electric, no water, no sewer, and no WIFI. But this was a great place to be for a few days. During this long drive, in the evening, we saw 15 bears; One Grizzly, two Brown, and twelve Black. This made the long drive more fun. [hunting for Bears]

(1.) (2.) Views of our camp site at Dawson Peak camp ground.

(3.) Highest amount paid for gas on this trip so far; I haven't even tried to convert this, but I have a 30 gallon gas tank and usually get about 22 to 25 gallons.

(4.) Cute little Black Bear, on the side of the road posing for us.

Day 34.

Hi, this was quite a busy day, as we were told about another Glacier. This was one not to be missed. This one had a treacherous road to the top of a mountain that over looks Salmon Glacier. Believe it or not, we had to drive across another border to Alaska again. I lost track on how many times we crossed borders. This road didn't make me as nervous as Evan's Mountain in Colorado, but a close second. Steep, slippery gravel, no guard rails, and huge drop offs.

(1.) This is the state camp ground where we spent the last two nights. At Meziadin Junction, 37 South.

(2.) Our sight and lake view from Meziadin.

(3.) This is one of the views of Salmon Glacier.

(4.) This is as high as the Lincoln and I were allowed to go.

(5.) Stewart was the border town in Canada, just before re-entering Alaska for the last time. I know I said this before, but we didn't know about this place.

(6.) Hyder, Alaska took us to see the Glacier. There was a creek with salmo spawning and supposed to have bears there too, but we didn't see any bears there.

Day 35.

Hi, as you can see we have WIFI tonight. We left our boon docking sight this morning and we need to have another full hook-up sight. We stopped on the way for a tank of real gas, [premium] restock some food items, eat lunch, and trade some more of our green money for something more colorful. Then on the road again. There is this little town, Burns Lake, with a sign on each end of town, and under each sign, is a Volkswagen covered with flowers. I wanted to stop there to take a break and to take a few pictures of the sign and flower car. At each and every stop for a break, gas, or camp sight, I always do a visual check of my Lincoln, trailer, and hitch; Well, I noticed that the last original trailer tire on the ground, had "Round Tread" and this only means that this tire is about to come apart. About one block away was a tire dealer, so we stopped there and i asked them if they had any trailer tires. "What size?" 225 / 75 - 15. "Yes we do. We have Maxxis and Carlisle." Give me the Maxxis. The price was way cheaper than the Marathon I just bought. They got me back on the road fast. We made it to a real nice place called "Dave's RV Park" in Vanderhoof, BC. While doing all of the hook-ups on my trailer, I had a weird feeling about that new Maxxis tire. I left out the load range "D" part when telling the tire size and they installed a load range "C" tire on my trailer. I'm about 90 miles away from where I bought it, but there is another tire store [same company] a few blocks from here. I will see if they will honor this mistake for me.

(1.) One of the two signs for Burns Lake.

(2.) Close up of flower car with Lincoln and safari in the back round.

(3.) I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but the center of the tread is bulging out and the tread is rounded instead of flat like it should be.

(4.) Picture of new, wrong, tire.

Dusty wants to drive.

Hi, after many thousands of miles, Dusty decided that he wants to see what's going on. For the last two days, instead of Dusty, just laying and sleeping in the back seat of the Lincoln, he decided to get on the consul. Lee Lee holds him so he dosen't go too far. Maybe he wants to see the bears too. Today, for the first time on our random trip, we saw two deer; One crossed the road in front of us and the other one ran away after I honked my horns. Dusty was sleeping when this happened.

Day 36.

Hi, today we had to find another tire store so I can get the right tire put on my trailer. In Vanderhoof, the tire store didn't have what I needed either, but found a place around 35 miles out of our way. It was the closest place to where we were and I didn't want to put too many miles on the wrong tire, so hopefully I wouldn't own it. This tire shop in Fort James didn't have the Maxxis in load range "D", but they had it in a Carlisle. They made a quick exchange and at no cost to me. [except the extra travel miles] Now we can hit the road and feel good about it. On our way, we saw the biggest, brightest Rainbow ever. Naturally we had to stop and take pictures of it. Our destination was going to be Jasper National Park. We didn't see anything interesting there so it was going to be another one night stay. Besides Dusty, the only wild animals that we saw there were about four Caribou. Jasper was an electric only site, but during a rain storm, our power went out twice in the night. No WIFI.

(1.) New Carlisle tire, ready for action.

(2.) Rainbow with two pots of gold.

(3.) Entering Jasper National Park.

(4.) Caribou in our camp ground at night.

Day 37.

Hi, this morning we left Jasper and had a long steep up hill drive to Banff, Canada. Banff is very touristy, but also very scenic. The Lincoln got another workout in these mountains. Rocky mountains like in Colorado and just as hard to climb with trailer in tow. On the way, there were more Glacier covered mountains, so the cameras were clicking away. In town, Lee spotted two Indian girls and took a quick picture of them. Soon after, we noticed that the Indians were putting on a traditional dance show so we walked across the street and watched them. We drove to the famous Banff Springs Hotel and just before we got to the parking garage, a deer crossed our path. Lee got another great shot. This evening, I decided that it was time to unwrap my Safari. WD-40 did remove the Duct Tape glue, but it was not easy to do. After the unwrapping, I noticed several rock dings in my segment protectors, lower part of body in-between the segment protectors, and a spider crack in my front window's rock guard. I'm glad I wrapped it up because it would have been much worse if I hadn't. If there was going to be a next time, I would make the mud flaps go all the way across and make the pads thicker.

(1.) Glacier view while driving to Banff.

(2.) Two Indian girls on there way to the dance show on opposite side of the street.

(3.) Deer, right in front of our car, with parking garage behind the deer.

(4.) Unwrapped Safari; Not as pretty as shown in this picture. My trailer tongue and hitch parts were gravel blasted and will need to be re-painted.

Day 38.

Hi, while still camping in Banff, at the Tunnel Mountain state run camp, ground we drove to Lake Louise. The Glacier there is about half gone since our last time here about 15 years ago. Better come and see these places while they are still here. We took a hike to get a closer look at the Glacier, but after walking about three miles, [each way] we decided that we hiked far enough. Dusty made it to the lake from the parking lot and back to the car. We later drove to another glacier, that used to crackle and pieces would fall every few minutes, but it was almost totally gone. It's a beautiful place to see. The biggest draw back is fighting the mosquitoes. Even while protected, a few manage to get you anyway. Like our Airstream, we have some new dings too.

(1.) Canadians are proud of their parks and have nice signs to prove it.

(2.) Lake Louise, Glacier half gone. [sad]

(3.) Rocky Road, Lee's favorite ice cream, not our favorite kind of path.

(4.) Dusty made it to the lake, About 1/2 mile round trip for him.

(5.) People taking rock climbing lessons.

Day 39.

Hi, this is our last day at Banff. We stayed an extra day so I could get the oil changed on my Lincoln. It was done early enough for us to drive around some more. Lots of interesting things around here if you look and drive to different places close by. I walked all through Banff while waiting for my Lincoln to be done. Later Lee and I hit the town again and spent some more Canadian Dollars. [food and stuff] Dusty loved Banff; He walked faster, watched all of the people walking by us and randomly barked at a few of the people. He had a great time, after all it's his vacation too. We drove to Minnewanka Lake and spotted few more animals. Then we drove to see the cable gondolas. There they had one of the Glacier busses that we rode in many years ago, on an actual Glacier. They say, they still do it, but maybe not in the summer?

(1.) This is one of the views from Main street, Banff.

(2.) This is Dusty posing for tourists on Main street.

(3.) Mountain Goats on they way to Minnewanka Lake. what a ride these are.

(4.) Columbia Ice field Bus.

(5.) A huge Caribou that was spotted on the side of the road; He stayed there and let everyone take his picture. they blend into the back round pretty well.

Hi, at the Tunnel Mountain camp ground, I spotted three other Airstreams. There was a real nice looking Basecamp, and an about 30' Excella [I think] being towed with a Buick from Ontario. I'll bet Andrew [Can-Am] set that one up. Then there was this really nice family with a beautiful 27' Victornox Airstream trailer. Lee said that I was gone so long that she knew for sure that I found another Forum member to talk to.

Day 40.

Hi, this morning we left Banff and took a picture of the Banff Welcome sign on our way out. We missed it on the way in. This is sometimes normal for us. We went through Calgary and hit a border town on the way so we could spend all of the rest of our Canadian money since they won't take coins back in exchange for foreign money. Lee was able to spend all but about a dime. The Lincoln was getting really low on gas and we were determined to cross the border before tanking up again, to save a few dollars. We crossed the last border of our trip today. This made nine border crossings; Do you know how hard it is to cross these borders, give the right answers, and not get inspected?

(1.) Banff welcome sign. Our last view of Banff.

(2.) Calgary, welcome sign.

(3.) Our last border crossing.
