Southern Cal. has concrete expressways that resonate with our truck and trailer and are hard to take. No porpoising, just a rough ride. There are similar reports with Tundras and it is called "bed bounce" on Tundra forums and also reported mostly in S. Cal. Many others have reported the same problem and not only with Tundras. I have rarely encountered this anywhere else except on a new section of I-70 east of Denver.

On my F250/Airstream 25 it was much more of a resonance than with the Tundra (or at least the resonance was at a normal cruising speed). Unhitched the truck was fine. What I'm getting at is Bob may be in for quite a surprise after towing with the cushy Navigator. I have friends who towed with half ton Suburban and traded to Duramax pickup and there were complaints of buckboard ride.

I've started to come around to Andy's thoughts on oversized tow vehicles. Although Bob may want a diesel vehicle because he uses his trailer a lot.. My trips are much shorter and less frequent.

Bob, How about the Ecoboost for a Ford guy? Or is it a little new still for you too?

We have a stretch of NYS Thruway we have to travel a lot that will "resonate" your shorts off.

Get the airsafe hitch.. you can tow with a dump truck and the airstream has no idea. It takes alot of the shock out of the tow vehicle too.

Hi, tpi. The Ecoboost is interesting, but I still think a 6.2 L might be the answer for me. I always seem to hit the mountains and want/need more power. The Lincoln has served us well, but I want to go up the mountains at half or three quarters throttle, not full.

Hi, Neil. I think what Vinnie is trying to say, is that now that he has that new fancy smancy Dodge Ram truck, he's going to dump the old Ford.

Hitch time again!

Hi, I know it's been a while, but with some medical concerns and family situations, I've been busy. As I believe I have stated, our Alaska trip was brutal, in as, all of the gravel roads we had to drive on. As much as I tried to protect my trailer from the gravel, my trailer has some new nicks and tiny dents. [cracked rock shield too] Just before this trip, I had totally repainted my "A" frame and hitch parts. When we got home, it looked like this area was never re-done and gravel blasted. I touched up my frame and started repainting my Equal-i-zer hitch parts. Here are a few pictures of my progress so far.

Hi, I had some more progress with my hitch parts today. As explained elsewhere I use 1/2" copper tubing for spacers so I can torque the bracket bolts without bowing the brackets. Only this time I painted them. Brackets, painted, and installed.

Hi, just coasting along, taking my time, no hurry, no plans to go anywhere yet. So I repainted my spring bars [not torsion bars, because they bend, not twist] and put new reflector tape on them.
