4th day.

Hi, this was the fourth day and the last night here in Vegas. Today was shorter in time spent in town. Venitian was the place to be; and we really like it there. We ate lunch in an Italian restaurant, inside of the Venitian. We enjoyed the food, entertainment, and scenery. Here are a few pictures from inside of the Venitian.

Strange things in Vegas.

Hi, we saw a few strange things in Vegas so we decided it was time to leave. And no, we were not drinking. You tell me. My eyes don't lie. Are those steps going up or down; And what was that round saucer shaped thing in the sky?

There sure are a lot of neat things to go around and look at in Vegas. I like it there.

Wife and I stayed at the Venetian in '07 while I was there with my company at a convention. Very posh rooms...

5th Day.

Hi, this morning we sadly left our camp sight. I highly recommend this place if you plan to stay in Las Vegas. [Las Vegas RV Resort] This place is close enough to go where ever you want to in town without being in the center of town. It is clean well maintained and professionally run. I do not speak for the restrooms, showers, or pools since we never use these, but I'm sure they are as nice as everything else was. TV was by your antenna only, and for a large city, there were only a few channels listed. I was unable to receive any TV channels so we watched DVDs. I'm glad we didn't receive any TV at the camp sight because after we got home we were able to hear about all the killings, murders, rapes, and Etc. I'm glad we had about a week without all of that.

Leaving Las Vegas, we saw more motorcycle cops in one area, than I have ever seen in my life; They were on the opposite side of the freeway [North I-15] just outside of the city. It was a down hill stretch and I'm sure they all got speeding tickets. The whole North bound side was lit up brightly with red and blue flashing lights. I saw a few police trucks, a few police cars, and dozens of police motorcycles. Also in the median area there was a television van with cameras running.

We stopped in Primm for a quick meal and headed for home. We made the trip home in about five hours of actual driving time. It was smooth sailing all the way. When I got home I looked at all eight of the Goodyear tires that got us from Point A, to Point B, and back to Point A again. As usual, they were all Black, Round, and Holding Air. There were no malfunctions or repairs needed for the Airstream or Lincoln on this trip.

Looks like you had a really pleasant trip. It's nice when everything just works like it's supposed to, huh?

Wedding in Phoenix.

Hi, we are soon to be on another somewhat random trip. My youngest daughter is getting married again. [second time] So we will be heading for Phoenix, Arizona. The trailer is loaded and almost ready to go. I made my own water pump silencer kit and it's much better than before. My wife made curtain doublers for the living room, similar to the ones she previously made for our bedroom. Tomorrow we will finish tinkering with our trailer and have it ready for departure on Friday. The wedding is on Sunday 10/10/10. After the wedding we will make a trip out of it. We can only get away for a few weeks.

Tires inflated, lug nuts torqued, fresh water tank sanitized, and the first rain we have had in a long time washed my trailer for me. Also I forgot to mention that I sealed the infamous rear bumper moulding area. I haven't had any problems yet and I don't want a rotten floor. I chose, not to, remove the moulding to seal the body, but to seal the lower part of the moulding where it sits on top of the rear bumper and both ends where they meet the frame. If you can see what I did in my pictures, you have better eyes than me.

Bob, my wife's second marriage (to me) is a far better one. We always do things better with experience.

So, lengthening the tubing quieted the pump? That's so simple I am surprised I haven't seen anything about it before. I put rubber washers under ours and it helped a little. I would like Barb to put backing on the curtains, but I guess her 2nd marriage isn't that good. Does it make it harder to open them since they are thicker? What did she use for backing?

We'll be leaving for California in 9 days. Maybe we'll cross paths on our way back home.

Hi Bob,

Since the slideouts had carpet everywhere my pump is resting on plastic over carpet deep under the panel in the closet. You can barely hear the pump run. It also has a dampner installed, not sure if that helps or not. Glad you came up with an easy solution..

Hi, Gene. It's not the length of the tubing that does the trick. Airstream connects the water pump directly with hard plumbing. [PEX plastic pipe] And when the pump is running, it vibrates the pipes. By adding a flexible tube between the PEX and the water pump, it absorbes the vibrations and greatly reduces the noise. On mine, I made plywood floor fillers to help keep mickey mouse out of my trailer; This held the PEX tightly in place and the water pump sounded like a jack hammer. They make a silencer kit that comes with two hoses and two male to male connectors, but the factory set up has 90 degree ends, so I chose to make my own. [better and cheaper]

On the curtains, what I mean by doubler, is that Lee made curtains to go over the originals. I will post some pictures so you can see what I mean. Note: the front curtains haven't got their hold downs installed yet, so the will look better later. The first three pictures are of the dark brown curtains, in the bed room, that Lee made last year or the year before. The last three pictures are of the dark blue & white curtains, in our living room, that Lee made this week.

Hi, Vinnie. I may or may not add an accumulator later, we very seldom use the water pump. Mostly at rest stops, But as you know, even if I don't use it, [like the sewer light] I still want it to work right.

Bob, Thanks for the info and photos. The curtains look good. We have Reflectix in the bedroom, so light stays out. Barb wants Venetian blinds on the center window in the back, but I haven't done anything about it. I don't think she's all that motivated to make curtains. We've learned to ignore the water pump, so though your solution is easy, I am not too motivated, but it is a good answer. We seem to be motivated to do other things, like travel.

Hi, today we drove from Lakewood to Phoenix. On the way we stopped at Patton's museum; Lili, Vinnie, and door gunner might like this place. It was a pretty long drive, but a good one. No incidents or too much traffic until we hit the 17 FRWY. We are at Desert's Edge RV park in Phoenix. Seems to be a nice place. This time we didn't panic, and waited until we crossed the Arizona border, for cheaper gas. Last time we paid about fifty cents a gallon more for gas in California. The WIFI works pretty good, but slow. I will try to post some pictures, but if they don't work you will know why.

Hi, last night, my daughter, her husband to be, and my three grandsons paid us a visit in our small silver castle. The three boys were asking about everything; What's this? How does this work? What's in there? How do open that? And on and on and on. The biggest attraction was the RV type toilet; They all wanted to know how it works, and of course they all wanted to try it too. Good kids.

Today, we just did some running around, a bit of shopping, and just enjoying being here. This is a really nice camp ground and I would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Phoenix. [Desert's Edge RV] I saw a man walking a dog and carrying a big bird. [Macaw] it was the prettiest bird I ever seen. We talked a bit, and as we were departing, he told the bird to say "Hi", but the bird only raised one foot, in a wave position. He tried to get his bird to say 'Hi" again, but the bird refused to say "Hi". Just as I turned around to leave, I heard the bird say "Good bye-------Good bye"
