Blue Ridge Parkway Camping
Any suggestions as to camping N.E on Park Way close to Ashville N.C. as I wish to park AS drive up N.E. then back same day. Do not want to drive far from Ashville to park. Plus many things to see at Ashville. We want to enjoy sites and not drag trailer around. Staying several days, then going to Summerton S.C. several days at friends house then to ocean. Bill

Lake Powhatan is very nice. Less than a 10 minute drive to downtown Asheville but wooded sites and a very remote feel at the campground. Forest service campground.

I camped at Lake Powhatan several times back in my mountain biking days (getting to old now). Those trips were "pre-Airstream" so I can't comment on the RV sites but I do really like the campground. There are great trails for hiking or biking and a very nice swimming lake. You get a very remote feel when camping there but you are close to town.

We stayed at Bear Creek really just off the parkway on the west side. Very, very convenient to things in Asheville with nice panoramic views. Spaces are close together but in Asheville you mostly just sleep in your RV.

We camped at Campfire Lodgings about 15 minutes from Asheville before we found our home in Maggie Valley. It is a beautiful private campground at the top of a mountain. Maggie Valley is about 40 minutes from Asheville and has many campgrounds on the river down in the valley. The entrance to the Parkway is just two miles from the valley or you can go the the Cherokee where the Parkway begins.

Amp fire Landings is nice, but the best sites are 1 thru 6. Our favorite is 1, because it gets the shade first. Another favorite among our Airstream unit is Mama Gerties, a little further out on East side. If going to MG, ask for the top of hill on new sites hitch deck views. Both Campgrounds have steep inclines to get Bette, but don't worry unless you are using a VW to pull a 34 footer!

We stayed at Bear Creek RV Park in Asheville last year on Taste of the Blue Ridge caravan last year. Concrete pads, clean, beautiful view, not far from downtown Asheville, nice farmers' market close by. Would go back

I have stayed at Bear creek before, and it's pretty nice and they have a nice view. This year I am staying at the Mt. Pisgah campground which is about 20 miles from Asheville.
