Blast off tomorrow

We leave tomorrow morning for our 4-6 month vacation out west, i have to say i'm dead tired from packing and washing the truck and airstream. I'm a little nervous leaving my home empty for so long, i bet i'm not the only one. Our first stop Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands, should be fun, i'll try to post pics of our travels. George

You have 4-6 months, I am jealous.

Question? You are in Alabama and your first stop is in New Mexico? What's the hurry?

Have fun and enjoy America.

We got a late start today, 12:30 but we got in about 500 miles. We are stopping for the night at a Walmart in AR.

Charlie, looking forward to meeting up with you in Yellowstone.

Thanks Vinstream, i'll have my wife look it up tomorrow while i'm driving.

TIMEMACHINE, I figure i can visit places that are close to where we live next year on our weekly trips. Most of this trip will be out west, there are so many awesome places we want to see.

Time for my chicken soup and hot cocoa, 38 outside right now.

George

Now I get it, you didn't mean that your first "layover" was in New Mexico, you meant it was your first complete "stop". You had me worried, now I am relaxed knowing that you are not trying to drive over 1000 miles in one day.

This will be a good trip! Have fun avoid the interstates. Use the US routes. THey are more interesting and just as fast. Make sure you visit the space museum in Alamagordo.

Carlsbad Caverns is absolutely awesome. I was a little nervous going down 750+ feet underground on an elevator, but once you get down there you forget you're underground. We would love to spend 3 or 4 days here but it was an add on and we just don't have the time to stay. If anyone is close, make sure you stop by, you won't regret it, except the roads aren't the greatest in NM. Very windy here, dust everywhere. Try to pic a month where the wind isn't so bad if you can. We are going to see the bats fly out of the cave in a little while.

Vin, we are going to the LNF and Cloudcroft tomorrow on the way to White Sands. I'm not sure if we have one or two nights there, i have to figure it out tomorrow. This was another add on that wasn't planned. Thanks for the tip.

Michelle, I'm not sure we will have time for the space museum, we still haven't seen the one in Huntville Al and it's close to us. I heard that one is pretty good too. I've read some of your posts and how you like to fly. 11 pilots from Miami moved up to the lake, they have all kinds of planes. They have an old rebuilt float plane they give rides on, one with a stick, no stearing wheel, lol. My best friends up there, awesome people! In the nice weather it's out all of the time. A couple of the pilots have hangers built on to their houses and they have their own ramp to get it to the water. They also have a huge hanger at the local airport which they have a few planes and they teach people how to fly. If your ever close by and we are home, you are welcome to stop by, you can park your AS right down near the water. We always like visitors. George And i will try to stay off the interstates, thanks.

If you have not seen the one in Huntsville then you have to see this one! I have seen both and they each offer a different part of the story. I love to fly but it is not in my future. I lost my medical. I replaced the airplane with a motorcycle.

Enjoy the US routes!
