Brad, it's always fun to figure more out about a bird or animal that makes us a part of their day. For instance, this eagle has been hanging around for the last hour across a small river at the back edge of our lot.
It's always interesting seeing something the size of an Airedale terrier sitting on a branch!
Hmm... thinking about that telephoto I don't have! But that wouldn't fit within the 'Favorite Mod under $100' thread guidelines. Might have to put it on the list for Susie.

Now THAT is funny! It's too late for Thanksgiving but there's always the Christmas meal.
You've heard of Coq au Vin...
... this would be Koko Vin.

That's a nice shot. In focus and large enough to see. Good job!

Definite RT , and because you can distinctly see the barring through the lower side of the tail feathers, it's a juvenile(first year bird). Nice clean shot

The Hitchcock-looking birds are Cormorants..the other looks like an Osprey but may be something else. The old saying...can't see the forest for the trees, with Cormorants you can't see the trees for the birds.

Yes if you enlarge photo of single bird you'll see it's an Osprey. The other photo is of a group of Cormorants. Glad to see your photos, what are you using for a camera?

Great pic!
I'm using a Canon Rebel XT with a 70/300m lens. The problem I have is I'm in a kayak sitting on a fast moving river, so even when I am paddling upstream I am hardly moving - staying still is not an option, always floating away from the subject at hand. Good workout though, and fun coming back.

Hi from AZ. . . That 1st bird is an Osprey, not the original hawk, and the group is Cormorants, I do believe, Regards, Craig

The second picture of the bird grouping is look to be young Anhingas. It depends if the water is fresh or salt though. Anhingas like light salt brackish and freshwater. The cormorant I believe is a saltwater coastal bird. We have those at nearly every neighborhood pond and roadside water body. They are amazing swimming underwater. Some people call them snake birds. When they are adults and sticking their necks out of the water they look like a snake.

Looking at the first pick, I still believe it is a red-tailed hawk. There is too much pattern in the underwing. The Osprey has a prominent white area underwing. It is hard to tell. The second pic has an underwing shot though.

The first pic is of a NA goshawk which is being ( 4 years ago) reared with a kitten the wife found in the barn. They were best friends and spent their days rolling around on the floor and chasing each other.
Second picture is the first Eurasian Sparrowhawk hatched here in the states...note the size compared to a quarter... The Sharpshin chick is even smaller.
Third pic is Ben Wallace same bird as the pic with the quarter about 25 days old.
Last pic is of the same pair Ricky (goshawk) and Oreo (kitten) sleeping together after a hard day of growing.
