Big Bend, here we come!
At a past rally, several couples indicated that they wanted to go to Big bend this spring. We figured out a window this month where just about all could go. About a month ago, I started emailing out a tentative agenda and we now have a caravan of 7 trailers ready and rarin' to go. A different couple will provide an evening meal for most days while we are gone.
We are coming from different towns, so we will rendevous at South Llano State Park in Junction. From there, it is Balmorhea SP, Davis Mountains SP, Study Butte (Big Bend), Seminole Canyon State Natural Area, and on to join a rally at Schulenburg, TX. My total round trip will be 1060 miles spread over 2 weeks. Things are far apart here in Texas!
We expect sweater days and coat evenings for the trip. Other than a rainy first day, it looks like we can expect good weather.

Im envious, I was going to go there this past December, but at the last minute family problems prevented me from doing so? Keep us all posted on how the trip works out and post lots and lots of pictures!

We attempted to camp in Big Bend NP on December 27 without reservations, thinking it wouldn't be all that busy. To our surprise, ALL of the campgrounds were completely full by noon! We gave up hope of camping inside the park and moved on to Presidio where we dry camped in the desert. Lesson learned!

I was born in Alpine near Big Bend, and have been dying to get back there to explore. I was just a baby when we moved away from there, so I know nothing about it other than what I have seen in photos.
Please post lots of photos and camping spot evaluations so those of us with plans for the future can know where to go and where not to go. Have fun!!!

Time to roll
All systems are go. Four hours from "wheels up".
We meet at the state park in Junction this afternoon and will roll for west Texas in the morning.
We have 7 classic Airstream trailers. The best thing about being the leader is looking in the mirror on curves and seeing the others strung out behind like a string of beads. Somehow, that effect is lost when there are motorhomes in the caravan.
Speaking of motorhomes., we have a new member with one of the only 20 A37 Airstream motorhomes that exist. He stores it where I store mine and, for a motorhome, it is an impressive unit.
