1st post here. I'm trying to upload pic of my barn find AS. We live in Marshall, MI and heading to South Haven for a week on the beach at Kal-Haven campground. We also have plans to camp in South Florida. Does anybody know if there are any places in Ft. Lauderdale? Looking to walk to the beach but doubtful.

I'm new to trailer life but pulled lots of boats. Will post my adventure as I appreciate the feedback from you all to give me some good tips. Thanks!

Jazgrass - If you're thinking of heading south after Christmas, you better check for open sites NOW, It may be too late. State Parks open reservations 12 months out, and many fill in first several days. Most Winter-Spring sites are long gone.

My favorite place in FL right now is my driveway and front yard here in Largo FL. It comes with a full hook up and the camp hosts are pretty nice people as well as very reasonable rates.

Sounds awesome! We'll be pulling in tomorrow evening around 4:30...

Thanks to you all for the awesome replies!! Lot's of options to choose from - sounds like we'll just have to start working our way through the list Will report back after our August trip. This coming weekend is Beverly Beach just north of Flagler, an excellent beach front spot and also a dog friendly beach. Appreciate all of the ideas!

Sunset isle RV park in CedarKey. Small older park in a nice area. Have been AS rallys and Tin Can Touist get togethers there.

What happened? We had everything prepared for you including the fire ring. I hope you realize there is a no notice cancellation fee.

davis.acw, I will tell you this but you must promise to keep it to yourself. If the word gets out about the W.P. Franklin Campground in Alva, (N. Ft. Myers), we will never get a spot. It is a Corps of Engineers Campground, all sites are on the water plus there are 8 boat slips for the same $ as the camping sites. You must promise now not to spread the info, OK?

Franklin locks, my favorite when visiting my mother in law in Alva. She's a quarter mile east on the other side if the river. I stay at the CG while my wife visits her.

Alva diner. Cash only and worth it if I remember correctly. The mother in law usually pays.

Sites are not large, but they are fairly private. We enjoy Lake Kissimmee State Park a lot.
Periwinkle looks nice, but "no dogs!" Will have to keep searching-

I have camped at Chassahowitzka River and Coastal Swamp Campground and liked it especially for kayaking. I did not see any swamp. Probably helps keep the crowds away.

This is a county campground. I have found that county and city parks/campgrounds are some of my favorite places to camp.

The locks is a surprisingly nice campground. Two families that camp from my work go there often and rave about it.
