Best Map recommendations for Campgrounds & National Forests

Not sure if it exists but I am trying to locate a map, atlas, or book that outlines the campgrounds that would include both National & State forest campgrounds as well as National Parks.

Borders has plenty of books that include National Parks but in my AZ for example it only shows 3 places: Saguaro, Petrified, & Grand Canyon and there are hundreds of great camping spots in addition.

Even the State Map only includes the major campgrounds, but leaves out those hidden gems.

Is there a comprehensive map out there? BTW, not an i-phone user, I am sure there are apps out there, make me convert!

Try this for forest service campgrounds by state. I know it doesn't answer your question about maps but it might help.

Campground Directory and National Forest Campgrounds

I have an iPhone and use the app Campwhere. It reads your position and gives you information about all the available camping places in the area. You can zoom in or zoom out if needed. Icons pop up on the screen, touch one and you get directions, a phone number and a description. I plan to use it this summer on a trip down into California.

Target has the Delorme Arizona Atlas & Gazetteer. It has all you desire. I don't leave home without it. Unfortunetly you have to buy one for each state. Fortunetly, most State welcome stations like New Mexico have free campground maps.

The iPhone Park Maps app has copies of the maps the rangers hand out for all National Parks, Monuments, etc.

Take a look at www.uscampgrounds.info for a really cool website chock full of information on state parks, forests, national parks and all sorts of camping sites. An Airstream buddy turned us on to it and we'll be utilizing it as we travel out West and back this Summer. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions they are all very helpful. We have been using them non stop in planning our upcoming trip. We also purchased National Parks of the West by Fodors & Nat Geo's Road Atlas Rv and Camping addition. Very useful as well.
