You pulll an Airsteam, burn fuel like crazy when your traveling. Can't understand why you're too cheap to spend a few bucks on Allstay app.

?

OP said nothing about being cheap - that's kind of a harsh leap I think. Could just be the challenge of finding free value. Also, OP asked to compare with AllStays. Perhaps that was intended to generate the kind of discussion that demonstrates many "free" apps aren't really "free" thanks to ad intrusion.

If you have an iPhone you may find that the apps available from William Modesitt Software are useful. For example he has an app for public campgrounds and one for US military campgrounds, as well as many others for other travel related needs. Although they aren't free, I have found them to be very user friendly and helpful. Bill also responds quickly to any questions or requests for improvements that you may have.

I also use his Road Trip Planner for Mac which makes planning route legs very easy as it can calculate not only the times that Apple Maps defaults to, but you can lower your speed from the default to whatever makes you comfortable. This creates useful enroute and arrival times.

There is also the free POI-Factory online that has travel related lists that you can then upload to your GPS.

I think you meant campendium.com. Auto-correct?

Yes, I use it on my Macbook Air and yes it is worth $30 for planning - especially long road trips.

Kilroy - the answer for me is that AllStays is not always the best solution. I just pulled up AllStays in an effort to find a good campground in close proximity to the Sacramento River around Dunsmuir, CA. One campground, the Railroad Park, came up. It's a very nice place and we may try it, but the RVParky site shows that one, the Castle Craigs CG, McCloud CG and several more up and down I5.

What's the deal? Is this a one off? Is there a way to get a large sort result? Is the app or Pro better than what is web accessible without joining? Is the resource somewhat limited, because the quality of information is better? What is your experience?

Really appreciate the input from all. Am interested in Allstays - the note "it's freezing weather ahead, do you know about 8% grade ahead" sounds like it's got easily accessible and helpful information. Pat

Hi,
I'm new here, so please forgive me if I make a mistake!

Is Allstay still the best app for finding places to stay?

Thank you!

Welcome!

Allstays is still very much used and recommended here on the forums. Campendium is also highly recommended and nowadays even tripadvisor's can give you good reviews. Campsite Images is another one.
