Best camping spots on the Blueridge Parkway?

Looking for some good recommendations on RV camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the central Virginia area between Floyd, VA and Lexington, VA? I know that the campgrounds in the National Park Service don't have hook ups which is fine with me and where I think I want to camp. Just looking for the most diverse and scenic campgrounds before we head into FloydFest.

THANX

misty mountain near Waynesboro at the northern end of the parkway is a good private campground. Peaks of Otter is nice, but you have to pick and choose to get a spot you can be level in. It is very shaded. Cool Breeze (Deer Creek RV campground) near Galax is a nice private campground. If you are a WBCCI member Highland Haven near Floyd is nice and has hookups. Actually it is fairly close to the parkway but about 20 miles from Floyd.

Not sure if this is in the exact area you want but last year we camped at Peaks of Otter NPS campground.

http://www.nps.gov/blri/peaks-of-ott...able-sites.htm

At the time we were in a short class "B" motorhome but many of the spots were suitable for an A/S. Dry camping for sure but a very nice campground and an easy walk to a nearby lodge where we had breakfast in the morning.

With a senior discount it was $8.00 for the night, heck of a deal!

Highland Haven

Have a look at Highland Haven Airstream Park. You do not need WBCCI to stay in the park.

Your first three choices are Highland Haven, and everything else is in fourth place or lower. Misty Mountain, many miles further north off Rt. 250 and about an hour north of Lexington, is nice enough, but mostly a trailer parking area, not a "camp" destination. Use it for it's location, not as a place to stay.
