Bar Harbor, ME

Any suggestions for a good campground in Acadia/Bar Harbor, ME? Looking for a full hook-up site, near the park and a water view would be great.

Thanks.

hmmm...I don't think there are any "water view" sites available anywhere on the island. maybe...but I don't think so. I've only been up w/ the camper once, a couple of years ago. Stayed at "Hadley's Point". It was nice enough...but the full hookup sites were all in an open pull-through type area. not much for privacy. While we were touring the island, we pulled into a few campgrounds, just to check 'em out for future visits...they all seemed pretty much the same, in that regard. "full hookups=open field". But Hadley's was nice, otherwise....also fairly close to the park entrance.

Your question prompted me to poke around, and I found that "Bass Harbor Campground" (www.bassharbor.com) has free wi-fi. not particularly close to the entrance to the park, though. but it is a beautiful area. Heck, the whole island is a beautiful area.

Just got back from Bar Harbor a week ago We stayed at Hadley's
Point also. For "water view" :

Campgrounds
http://www.koa.com/where/me/19133/ - Bar Harbor KOA
These have "ocean front" but they aren't full-hookups.

Just spent 2 weeks at Bar Harbor Koa. Saw several other camp grounds on the Island. Search and You should find on the net. Used Koa as it was easier to find on net reseve site ect. Many great water site but none that were full hook ups.
Full hook ups available but further from water. Met several other Airstreamers there. (Hey to Danny Two Kayaks).Koa close to park as are the others mentioned.

Thanks for the replys. Actually, I am not having a hard time locating campgrounds but was instead looking for a recommendation from someone who had been and stayed in a campground they thought was great.

No matter how much you research, you never know about a campground until you get there and usually the one next door is nicer!
