Balloon Fiesta

We are heading out to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque soon and have about 7 days before we arrive to see New Mexico highlights. Any suggestions of routes, attractions, scenery or other points of interest that would bring us back to Albuquerque on September 30 would be appreciated.

And thanks for the many suggestions for our recent trip to the Great Lakes. We look forward to sharing from our own experiences with others who may be begining their own AS adventure. Thanks.

If you're coming from AK, you could swing south and see Carlsbad Caverns NP. Really cool.

North of Abq, the park that really impressed me was Bandelier NM. JUST as interesting as Mesa Verde, in my opinion.

And if you decide to go to Bandalier, Juniper Campground is a good choice. And you will be in/near Los Alamos, which has a superb museum of the Manhattan Project.
