Back from Yosemite.
We just got back from four nights near Yosemite. Very nice this time of the year. The falls were flowing big time!
The pictures are, our campsite, in Groveland just outside the park, Bridelvail falls, Yosemite Falls, and Yosemite Lower Falls.
They just redid the parking and paths area around Yosemite Falls. It's pretty nice.

We were 30 minutes from the National Park entrance. And an additional 30 minutes to the valley floor.
We like camping just outside the park, where there are full hookups and no problems with reservations.
Last time we went in August and everything was dried up except Bridelvail Falls. So this time I made sure we went their early. And it turned out great weather wise and all the falls were flowing near record rates.
Couldn't stand at the observation base of Bridelvail w/o getting drenched from the mist! And the sounds were awesome too. Very loud thunderous powerful.... Nature in motion...

Labor Day!
Will be there along with four little silver palaces this upcoming Labor Weekend. We will be at the Upper Pines campground.

Hiya Tim and everyone!
It's certainly easy to remember why Yosemite remains the most popular camping destination in the country.
My own preference is for a visit when the last snow is still around - ideally, at the end of March or beginning of April. Yosemite offers more "critter" encounters then.
I've had bear encounters during almost every evening at that time (usually right in my campsite) and a particularly memorable experience with a beautiful grey coyote that came right up to our campfire late at night. We were the only campers at Upper Pines over that particular week, and "nature's magisty" is not hyperbole.

We don't have that here..
in Kansas. So I appreciate seeing the pictures. Someday Moby will be ready to take the big journey, instead of just out of the barn and back in again.
And welcome Johnny (airstream666) to the forums. Hope you enjoy your time with us.

Me, too
Just returned from four nights camping at North Pines campground - June 14-18 - (we have a Class B mh) - just as beautiful as the pictures posted - in our 4 1/2 hour trip from north of SF to the park, checking out 450+ campsites daily, and return trip home, only saw one AS - an older unit camped at Upper Pines campground.
We had not been back to Yosemite since our honeymoon in 1970 - don't really know why, but for those many states away, you won't be disappointed making the trip west to see Yosemite.

Hetch-Hetchy Reservoir
Another fabulous must-see in the Yosemite area is the short drive to Hetch-Hetchy reservoir. In 1913 Congress passed legislation that allowed the Hetch-Hetchy valley to be dammed and drowned to supply fresh water to a fast-growing San Francisco population. Although hotly debated among environmental groups as an environmental disaster in need of reclaimation, it is still an incredibly beautiful area as well.

It is definately worth the trip.
