Thanks, Doug&Maggie ...it was a fun trip and some nice scenery.
Julianne...Not only did Balmorhea have its pool, but both these TX state parks had cable! (We knew you'd appreciate that.)

You know me too well. Gots to have my mobile entertainment unit! Sounds like one nice state park, must go to Texas! Trying to talk my friend into buying an Airstream Bascamp to tow behind her FJ when she moves to ABQ...that would be some traveling trouble.

Guys I want you to know I've spent the last two months recovering from knee surgery. Your travel log along with the forum updates as given me a lot of pleasure and inspiration during sleepless nights. You do a great job of describing your trips with the two girls.
Since I devoured all but the last trip in your travel log I am pacing myself. I'll probably go back and start over. You've come up with a lot of great tips and its fun to hear about all the good times your having.
Keep it up!!

Yes we DO you know! :-) Davis Mts and Balmorhea State Parks are the only 2 TX state parks that have cable ...we figured it's because there's no other TV reception possible out there in West Texas unless you have satellite (which we know you do!)...

Well thank you, TW...that's nice to hear, and we're tickled our travel log has been both entertaining and helpful in the healing process. You take care of yourself, get that knee all better and get out on the road again!

Thanks, Bob & Nanc...glad you like the travel log, etc. Wouldn't be surprised if we've crossed paths ... gotta hit a common rally one of these days so we can meet up! If you go to Fool Hollow near Show Low in the White Mts this weekend look for Louis & Sergio ("LHall" the forums...also in 4CU) from Phx... Gotta be cooler up there than it is here!

NF Campground-Hopping in NoAZ, 5-16 Aug 09
Boy, oh boy...are we behind in our travel log updates! But I have pledged that we will catch up come hell or high water. So I guess we start now. Guess we've just been havin' too much dang fun to sit down and do it! Ha!
After returning from our West Texas/SW NMexico trip in early June, we hunkered down for the rest of June and July...too hot to go anywhere nearby and too far to get out of the heat.
But we ramped it up again in August and did a 12 day NF campground-hopping tour of Northern Arizona ... the first trip with our new Honda 2000w generator ...and the whole trip we had no hookups for electricity or water. We are liberated! And we had a great time. We traveled to Sedona, AZ ... camped SE of Flagstaff, AZ at Pine Grove Campground ... then NE of Flagstaff at Bonito Campground at Sunset Crater ... then near Williams, AZ at Kaibab Lake Campground ...finding new places to camp and revisiting a few familiar haunts. Great time.
Below are pics to tempt you to come to our travel log (link below) and see the "Full Monty" ...with lots of pictures and more description.
And keep an eye out for further LATE updates ... Labor Day in Bisbee, AZ ... 4CU Rally at Heron Lake, NM ... ABQ Balloon Fiesta followed with an impromptu mini-rally with 4CUers at Fool Hollow in Show Low, AZ ... long weekend at Picacho Peak State Park, AZ ... and Halloween at Roper Lake State Park near Safford, AZ. Will we ever get caught up? (And we leave soon Quartzsite for Thanksgiving, so that will be another one. Yikes! =:-O
Here are the pictures:
Pic #1: Approaching Sedona, AZ
Pic #2: Red Rock Country near Sedona, AZ
Pic #3: At the Top of Oak Creek Canyon
Pic #4: Upper Lake Mary SE of Flagstaff in a Rain Storm
Pic #5: Our First Campsite at Pine Grove Campground in Coconino NF
Pic #6: Campsite at Bonito Campground at entrance to Sunset Crater National Monument NE of Flag (also in Coconino NF)
Pic #7: Sunset Crater
Pic #8: Wupatki National Monument Ruins NE of Flagstaff
Pic #9: Campsite at Kaibab Lake Campground in Kaibab NF near Williams
Pic #10: Sunset over Kaibab Lake
Lots more pics at our travel log!
Happy Trails!

What's the old saying?
If is wasn't for bad luck I'ld have no luck at all.
The knee is much better but now I have to contend with a stress fracture in my right foot. (Who knows how that happened?)
Looks like I'm facing six to eight weeks in a cast. They haven't decided yet.
Something to look forward to through the winter here in the northeast.
But if they let me drive I might sneek away to an unofficial rally the WDCU is having in Myrtle Beach the last week in December.
I wish I could get the enough time off work to come the the New Years rally you guys (FCU) are having at Picacho, but that won't happen this year.
I know your looking forward to that one!

Well that's a total bummer. Take care of it and don't push it too fast...and maybe by the time the snow melts you'll be good to go.
We are looking forward to the 4CU NYear's rally at Picacho. Hey...if you're real good maybe you can find time to get yourself out here in Feb for the Dead Horse 4 Rally...that's going to be a good one, too!
Take care and get yourself healed well...then hit the road!

Terry, your collection of trailer park photos is wonderful! I am not surprised that The Shady Dell is located near Bisbee....one of the more interesting communities I have found in my travels.
I love reading your travel blog....good to hear you are back on the road and playing catch-up with it!

Thanks Paul & Dee...glad you are enjoying the travel log! And The Shady Dell is a must-see for vintage trail buffs. And they are nice folks, to boot. Bisbee is alway a fun place to visit...something for everyone I'd say!

Bisbee for Labor Day 2009
We’re on a roll now! Imagine...Two updates in two days!
We’ve finished our travel log update of a long Labor Day weekend jaunt to Bisbee, Arizona and The Shady Dell...with AS friends Louis & Sergio (LHall) and Mark & Ron (Manor68). OK, it’s a relatively short log ... but hey, it’s progress!
Only a few pics below ... But they are more on the website (link below)... We’ve been to Bisbee and The Shady Dell several times, so please check out our previous trips there, too, to see all the great trailers in The Shady Dell collection (and prior antics)....
(And remember if you don't have your trailer with you, you can RENT one of The Dell’s vintage trailers just like you would a hotel room...you’ll have a blast, gaarr-un-teeed! Just go to their website: http://www.theshadydell.com )
We always have a good time at The Shady Dell, thanks to Jason & Jen, the owners, and the rest of the crew...just can't say enough nice things about them.
Enjoy and you’ll be hearing from us again soon as we get the rest of the trips logged... (We are determined!)
Here are a few teaser pics:
Pic #1: Caravanning behind Louis & Sergio to Bisbee...
Pic #2: Welcome to Bisbee!
Pic #3: Arriving at the Shady Dell...
Pic #4: Louis & Sergio's rig...
Pic #5: Mark & Ron's and Terry & Greg's Rig...
Pic #6: Hanging out at Mark & Ron's (Cody Dog, Ron, Greg, Luois' Back, Sergio)

We both use the camera, but Greg does most of the TTW pictures, so he gets credit there... If we stopped every time we wanted to taka a picture we'd never get where we're going!
