New Travel Log Web Site Address

Hi all...for those of you who care, we've made a few changes and fixed a few minor problems, misdirected links, and updated some graphics on our travel log website...it has a new address (see new link below in signature).

If you have bookmarked our travel log, you need to do that again and trash the old bookmark. Also if you go to the wedsite and a link doesn't work, try refreshing your browser to get hte latest page o load. I have made a quick trip through the site to make sure everything works properly, but please let me know if you discover links that are not working for you or other glaring errors so I can fix them.

Later...and travel well!

Arizona High Country Campground — White Mts, AZ

Alas, we did not go anywhere during June...too dang hot around here without going several hundred miles...

So we decided to go up to the White Mountains for 10 days 10-19 July and plant ourselves at Arizona High Country Campground about 15 miles west of Show Low off 260 near Clay Springs, AZ...this is a private campground so we were able to make reservations and didn't have to fight the summer flocks for a camping space... We thought of maybe going to Fool Hollow Lake for a few days at the end, but we checked and they were pretty full, so we just stayed put.

The campground is owned and run by two delightful ladies, Elly and Nancy... The grounds are pleasant and there's plenty of scrub cedar for shade...the Girls really enjoyed all the new smells...there's a small pond and it's not so far to Show Low that you can't go into town and look around... We enjoyed the summer showers and light breezes...it was really nice to sit out under the awning (tilted for the rain, of course) during showers and smell the mountain rain.

The most important thing for us was that it was very quiet and very peaceful... We had no Alltel cell reception and there is no regular TV reception, but they do have "Free to Air" satellite and free WiFi so we were not out of touch too bad...We were able to touch bases with clients when necessary...but for the most part we just were plain lazy... Our time there went really quickly, even though that's the longest we've ever stayed in one place, and our days were very laid back.

Check out our travel log (link below in our signature) for more details... Below are a couple of pictures of the grounds... (By the way, Nancy has an Airstream for sale...I think it's a 72 Trade Wind (?)...but I could be wrong...if you are interested, go to our website and link to their website to contact Nancy.)...

Pic #1: Entrance to the campground...
Pic #2: Our campsite...
Pic #3: Nancy's Airstream (for sale)...
Pic #4: The Girls at the campsite...

Williams, AZ & the 4CU Labor Day Rally

We made the the trip to Williams, AZ to join in the 4CU Labor Day Rally...had a great time and ended up joining the 4CU as a result...great bunch of friendly and welcoming folks. After such a good time, we'd have been nutz to not join up with them! Went up a few days yearly to make the Train trip to the Grand Canyon, too. Nice side trip. Then after the Rally, we took a few additional days at Pine Grove Camp Ground about 20 miles SE of Flagstaff.

Visit our travel log website (link below) for the whole nine yards (finally got it done!), but here are a few pics the pique your interest...

Photo #2: The Grand Canyon...lots more shots on the website...

Fool Hollow Lake State Park - Oct 08

Spent a week up at Fool Hollow Lake State Park 9 -16 Oct... We met Jim and Rod from NM ("jimandrod") there to introduce ourselves and the Park to them. Had a great time with them...wished they could have stayed longer, but we think they'll be back... We shared a pair of "buddy" sites and that worked out great... We stayed several additional days, moved to a single site, and continued to enjoy the cool weather and freezing nights.

Our travel log has been updated to include this trip's log (link below in signature)... We've created separate pages for 2007 and 2008 trips because we were running out of room! There's a link from each year's list to the other, and we'll expand the pages as time marches on... Hopefully this will make for easy navigation of the site.

We also have updated the AZBambi Décor site with a couple of new looks, St. Tropez and San Miguel...check them out! You can link to the décor site from the travel log, or you can go to it directly with the link below in our signature.

Here are some pics to tease you to the travel log:

#1: Terry at "Camp Airstream"...Our Bambi on the left, Jim & Rods' 28' Safari on the right...Rod poking his head out their door...

#2: Terry and Rod and Jim getting ready to chow down...

#3: "Camp Airstream" from up the hill...

#4: T&G's single site after Jim and Rod left for NM...

#5: Fool Hollow Lake from our loop...

#6: Terry and the Girls sunning outside the Bambi door...

#7: A placid Fool Hollow Lake...

#8: The Lake from up the loop road...

I have driven past that park a Brazilian times, but have never stayed there. It sure looks nice. Hopefully you were scouting out locations for a future 4CU rally.

Richard... It is a very nice park. We think it's the nicest AZ state park in the system...concrete roads, dump station, full hookups for the majority of the sites, and where there's not full hookups (only in certain loops), the only thing lacking is sewer...each site has a cement pad for the rig and the picnic table, plus a fire ring, and there are some great views. There are lots of "buddy' sites. There's fishing, boating (with a launch ramp), swimming, plenty of easy hiking/walking trails, a play ground, etc, etc. They also have dry camping spots (usually for tenting, etc) but there is no group camping area. They do not take reservations for any camping. We go up for a week in the fall (usually after 15 Oct and a week in the spring before 1 Apr —that may be 15 Mar now—to take advantage of their winter 7 days for the price of 5). The current rate for full hookups is $25/night. They raised it from $20 as of 1 Apr 07.

We (Jim and Rod and us) all agreed it would be a great place for a rally...the problem is timing...it's too busy in the summer without reservations, that's for sure, unless the management would work with us on that to reserve a portion of one of the loops. I'm not sure if they would do that for rally or not...

Halloween at Roper Lake State Park

Got back on election day from an "extended" Halloween weekend at Roper Lake State Park near Safford, AZ...had a good time...had more trick-or-treaters in the campground than we have at home any more...that was fun. The weather was a bit warm in the days (mid 80s) and needed AC a few times, but the nights were nice (high 50s)...no need for heat, and slept well. The Park was about 1/3 to 1/2 full for the weekend, but then got real roomy come Monday after Halloween. Here are some pics to tease you to our travel log website (link below)...

Thanksgiving Weekend in Bisbee, AZ

Howdy All...

We have updated our travel log (link below) to include our last trip, a Thanksgiving weekend getaway, leaving the Friday after Thanksgiving to meet friends in Bisbee, AZ at The Shady Dell Vintage Trailer Park. The weather was pleasant shirt-sleeve during the days (60s & low & 70s) and the nights were were chilly and crisp, into the high 30s. We needed heat! We greeted old friends, and made new ones...and a good time was had by all.

We’ve included a few pictures below to entice you to go to the website to see much more...please visit us there. This was our third trip to The Shady Dell and the second since we’ve had the Bambi, and it gets better every time, thanks to Jen & Justin and Ken who keep this gem of a place going strong, and a "must-do" if you are in southeastern Arizona.

If you have problems with the site please let us know...if you do have trouble, try emptying your cache and refreshing your browser...and hopefully that will get everything aligned properly. We hope you enjoy!

Happy Trails!
