Austin to Coast - Portland, TX

Heading out to the coast this weekend for about 5 days. Going to try "Seabreeze RV Park". Anyone been there? Any other experiences/recommendations in the area (Port A, Rockport, CC, etc.)?

Big Fisherman

Don't miss eating at the Big Fisherman, between 35 freeway and business 35 just south of Rockport.

They have an awesome $5.95 lunch seafood special. I always order the mini-seafood platter which is usually more than I can eat. Last timeI had 2 fish fillets, 6 big shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp, stuffed crab, hush puppies, cole slaw, and baked potato.

Thanks alot, Pahuska! Have heard of the place but haven't been there. Will be sure to try it next time. We ended up staying put this long weekend due to the weather. RV place said there could be possible flooding.

Thought I had a it made in the shade getting out of some home repairs/maintenance and cruisin' down the highway with my pride & joy...

Ditto! on the Big Fisherman! It is the best food we had last winter in Texas. On our return trip home to Arkansas in March we took a 150 mile detour just to eat there one last time. Now that indicates some good food!

We stayed in Rockport a couple of weeks for our day trips and particularly enjoyed watching the shrimpers and oyster boats come in to unload in the evenings and driving along the beach at Port Aransas, but it took four car washes to get the salt spray off of the truck! The long Rockport-Fulton pier is very fishing friendly and goes a long way out in the water. We put this area on our "to visit" list for next winter. It is a good place to kick back and enjoy the food, scenery, and water, although there will probably be more people in the area than in January when we were there. Have a great trip and enjoy the coast!
