Mountain Home, AR great place for flyfishing. Norfork and White and Buffalo Rivers. Denton Ferry RV in Cotter, AR excellent RV park on the White River. If your there at the end of March the Sowbug fly tying event is going on. Just south is Mountain View, AR, well known for its Dulcimer shop and activities.

You guys and gals gotta stop inviting all these folks to try Arkansas. It’s gonna get too crowed. Ha ha. It is a beautiful state. We love going there with trailers or motorcycles.

Depending on what area you pass through and what your interests are, there are lots of things to do in Arkansas. All the above recs are good.
If you stop in Little Rock at the NLR campground in the river, visiting Heifer International headquarters just beyond Clinton Library is a fun free visit. If you are into music and come through the delta area, Johnny Cash’s childhood home in Dyess had been beautifully restored, and you can’t beat the Americana, Folk , and Bluegrass of Moutain View. There’s also trout fishing near there at Jacks . You could spent a week from there going across the northern part of the state White River trout fishing, Buffslo National River kayaking, Eureka Springs for an afternoon, Christsl Bridges, etc.
If you go southern route, don’t forget Hot Springs . It has the baths, and Oaklawn Park has horse racing season then.
As far as weather, fishing is fine. Temperatures may be near 80 or it may be snowing. Sometimes in the same day! I have been on spring break camping trips where at the beginning, we were in goose down and long johns snd ended up in shorts and swimming. More likely though will be highs in the 60s andnights in the 40s.

Village Creek State Park in northeast Arkansas is great! Nice golf course there too.

Yea!!! Go there and try your luck! There are local retirees and such that supplement their income by finding diamonds here.

OK, Arkansas has a lot more going on than I thought.

I have some family going to Mountain Home in a month or so. I'll get a report from them on camping and fishing.

Buffalo River ... that's something I've heard is fine, but I don't yet know much about it.

Arkansas is a BEAUTIFUL state, and not called The Natural State for nothing.

You have been given some really good suggestions.

We live in Bentonville and love it! Lots of places to go in this state with our Avion. Petit Jean SP, Mount Magazine SP, Lake Dardanelle SP, Lake Fort Smith SP, Beaver Lake, Bull Shoals, Norfork Lake, Buffalo Point (on the Buffalo National River south of Yellville, AR... America's first National River)

This area has a TON of local breweries, wineries (Tontitown Winery is owned by some friends of ours, and is on the Harvest Hosts list), there is a cidery in Springdale.....

So much to do, so little time!

There is an Airstream shop in Avoca, AR... Hoss's RV.

Keep us posted on what you decide.... THIS trip!!!

The best KOA we have found is in Hot Springs. The terraced landscape gives a sense of privacy you don’t often get in a full hookup RVPark.

In Little Rock stay on Arkansas River at beautiful and peaceful Maumelle Park.

Maumelle Park at confluence of Arkansas River and Maumelle River is best stay in central Arkansas.

Crystal bridges museum

Fabulous if you are an art lover - we stayed a bit outside of Bentonville and drove in to see Crystal Bridges - wished we had two days for it. Beautiful state.

Mountain View Arkansas

We lived in Mountain View for a number of years. They have a lot of RV parks. Blanchard Springs is a great place, it has a state park with Blanchard caverns. It’s a dry county but has a great little brewery on the edge of the next county called Gravity Brew Works, very close to Blanchard Springs. Mountain View is a very popular spot in the spring and summer in the Ozark Mountains. If you like folk music it’s very popular there. Many sit around the court square and play music together every evening.

Mountain Home Area

WE lived in Mountain Home for 4 years and loved it. Lots to do and great fishing. Fish for trout year round. Several Corp parks. Buffalo point State Park is another gem if you like to hike. Arkansas is a great state for outdoor activities. We prefer the north central and north west area. Lake Fort Smith state park is beautiful. Too much to do, if you hike keep your eyes open for morel mushrooms!

Last year we went west and spent some time in AR. We found a camp ground down by the AR river right in the heart of downtown Little Rock. We could walk across a walking bridge to the Clinton Library. We went form there to Hot Springs and stayed at the National Park campground in Hot Springs. Hot Springs was on of the best places we visited. The campground was really nice and only a 5 min drive to downtown Hot Springs. Hot Springs has a lot of history and I found out that is where Baseball Spring Training started back in the day and thats where Babe Ruth came to Spting Training. We liked the Bath Houses. On our way home from the west we went to Eureka Springs, AR and went to the Passion Play. We liked Eureka Springs and the Passion Play but the campground near the Passion Play I would not reccomend. The owners were rude to say the least. Find another campground.

As you can see there's lot's to see in Arkansas.

Last time through we stopped in Fort Smith, stayed at the Corp Of Engineers park on the Arkansas River near the lock. Nice campground with water, electric and lots of space, $10 per night with Senior pass. US history about Judge Parker and the US Marshalls during the second half of the 19th century. There are several nice restaurants downtown. There is also a exclusion train that runs up to Winslow. Nice half day trip.

You should hit the Talihina area and the parkway near there. There is a great Mexican Restaurant in Talihina, and the Talimina (sp?) parkway is spectacular.

We enjoyed the Library in Littlerock and learned a lot on our visit. The RV park across the river looks like a convenient location.

Travel safe and find the smiles. Pat

We really like Wiederkehr AND their restaurant! Just down the hill from them is Post Winery and Mt. Bethel Winery.... both outstanding, too!
