When we moved to Tucson 10 years ago, we spent ~6 months at Cactus Country on the far SE side of town waiting to buy the right house. We loved the area and were incredibly fond of the park. CC is now owned by Adventure Bound Camping Resorts, so I have no idea if it retains the friendliness and same amenities. The last of our friends from that era moved on 2 years ago.
It is a drive from the heart of town, but there is plenty of civilization nearby (Saquaro West National Park, grocery stores, Walmart, restaurants, etc). Plus, you get the beauty and peace of the surrounding desert and views of the Rincons, Santa Ritas and Catalina mountains.
February is prime time with the Gem Show and Rodeo so do reserve ASAP.
