Arizona Bound- could use some assistance

My wife and I have decided to get our Airstream down to Arizona for the winter. We moved to Montana this year and have had no luck finding any nearby warm storage facility. I don't like the thought of it being in -40 weather in our current unheated storage unit and we would like to use it some this winter.

So, I've made many calls to storage places around the Phoenix area and pretty much everything I'm finding that has individual units are full. I don't know the Phoenix, Scottsdale and surrounding areas at all but I don't think I really care on the specific location as long as it is a pretty safe and secure situation.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows of a place with available units I sure would appreciate it. With weather closing in on us now, I'm probably just going to head down mid week and hope I can come up with something once I'm down there.

Also, am I nuts to feel I can go without reservations and find campgrounds with available sites in the area? I know there are a lot of snow birds heading to AZ at this time of year but I don't know if most campgrounds are pretty full.

Unfortunately with a lot of work obligations I just haven't spent as much time doing my homework in advance.

Can't speak for Arizona, but we have been traveling in New Mexico the last 2 weeks and have great success with awesome parks without reservations! Fall/Winter travel rocks!

Palm Creek RV Resort in Casa Grande is a great park with abundant secure storage. Not for everyone as it is truly a resort, but first rate. It's a huge park and they usually have deals.

Check with the Lazy Days KOA in Tucson--there is a huge dealer next door who probably can guide you

The web site is way way out of date but consider this place. I have a mobil home there, and they have both mobile and RV spaces, and a secure storage area. I like the place very much, but it is a ways out.

Call them for current rates though.

Uh, Phoenix? Sorta like LA if that's you cup 'o tea.

Try Tucson. There are a number of storage facilities in Tucson and Marana, ranging from fenced outdoor lots to indoor climate controlled storage - you pick. Priced accordingly but almost all are reasonable. Google for a selection.

Welcome to AZ.

Hi from AZ. . . we keep ours at Shady Storage in Apache Junction. It's covered & seems very secure. About 8 AS there these days, They had a few vacancies last I heard. About 25 miles East of PHX., 8 miles from Lost Dutchman SP. regards, Craig

Thanks for all the tips an suggestions. Unfortunately I'm still have not located a place that has availability with an individually enclosed garage. I'm really not comfortable to just have a roof overhead or a shared building. I just will sleep better at night having our Airstream locked up in it's own unit. Hopefully I will still be able to find tomorrow and be on the road on Thursday.

Greetings from Canada

I cannot help you with anything in Arizona but if Las Vegas is a possibility I can make a recommendation. We took our trailer south in September and toured for a month. Then drove over to Vegas and put the trailer in storage till we head south again in January.

The facility has open storage, covered storage and also fully enclosed storage. We choose the fully enclosed storage as it allowed us to put our own lock on our area.

Here is a link to their website. The resident managers are Sue and her husband Terry. They are really good people and I'm sure they will treat you right. I was actually talking to another forum member last week who spoke to Sue and told me he thought they still had some open space.

If we want any further info just drop me a line.......

Cheers
Doug
