Are you going to take a winter trip?

We just passed through Tucson. The weather was perfect and the two parks (Catalina and Lazy Days) we stayed at were each less than 1/3 full. Ours was the only Airstream in either park.
Lazy Days (formerly Beaudry) is back to its old form. Neville Proud, the old manager is running things. The restaurant (the Florizona Room) serves good food and when we went through, we got a promotion of two free nights, a free breakfast and a free lunch. Even the guy who plays all the instruments at once and sings at the same time is performing at night. It is truly just like the old days.
Catalina State Park now takes reservations on line so make one. Large electric sites are $25.00 per night, limit 14 days and the park has many hiking and biking trails and there are thousands of birds to watch.
Get in your Airstream and take a winter trip. Airstream living is best outside under the awning. The economy needs your help.

"Winter" is such a relative term... overall it's a great season for outdoor activities in Texas.
We're going to Lake Sam Rayburn next weekend, and to Blanco, TX for an AIRForums rally in December. It's nice to camp when we can be comfortable without the AC!

Absolutely. With the weather cooling off in Texas I'm itching to go camping. Bring on the cold. Going to miss having a campfire so I guess we'll be spending more time in the AS than I normally would.

You get your revenge in August and September, when our AC is barely enough to make the interior livable when parked in the shade. For Texas this year, really it was June-September.

You betcha we're headed out this winter.

December will take us to Indio/Palm Springs for about a week, then on to Pismo Beach for two weeks.

January will take us to San Diego then on to Quartzsite AZ for a couple of weeks or so.

February is open so far. I'm sure we will think of someplace to visit. We always do.

Yep it is hot here in the summer but fun to be on the beach at Christmas! But we do turn on the tv now and then to see how deep the snow and Ice is up north. (-: we are going up to Boerne during Thanksgiving, off to Blanco early Dec.. And I am sure there will be more. Not sure what all these ” Winterizing” threads are about. (sorry, that was just wrong) y'all come on down to Corpus this winter, be sure to bring at least 1 long sleeve shirt!

We went to South Padre Island February for their annual Kite Festival, and nearly froze to death. Remember last February? Ice on the roads and frozen water at the RV parks. The weather turned great for the two days of the Kite Festival, and we had a great time. Then we went to Galveston for a week as it warmed up.

I know that this is not the norm for that area. It would not keep us from doing it again.

We are headed to New Zealand for three months, and still haven't figured how to tow the AS, even with the Ecoboost Ford. So will probably have to leave it behind. Back in February in time to get the greenhouse growing for the Summer here.

Oh yes! Winter steelhead fishing in Nor Cal and Oregon dictates that we winter camp near the Trinity, Klamath, Rogue and other rivers. Lucky for us, God invented propane, propane heaters, and fleece.

Oh! My, yes.

We are planning a run south to Charleston and/or Savannah for Christmas and New Year's holidays.

We head to the Phoenix, AZ area in a couple weeks for a ten-day stay.
The Airstream will stay there for the winter.
We plan to return frequently during the winter and attend Four-Corners Unit's Arizona rallies.

We've taken the B190 camping over Christmas in Pennsylvania over the last few years, and we're doing the same with the new trailer this winter.

We're also taking it to Disney in January. I plan to keep the trailer heated between the two trips to avoid having to re-winterize it.
