Getting ready for our first trip (out to tahoe)with our new to us '86 sovereign, wanted suggestions on apps for figuring out camping opportunities and also an app for finding location of gas stations (diesel). Thanks in advance.

Allstays seems popular.

RVParky
Gas Buddy
both work extremely well no matter where you travel. good part about both is the ability to type in a location and come up with the information, in advance.

I second Gas Buddy. It's fantastic, sign up for a free account today and install the app on your smartphone.
I can't comment on the RV park, we use the laptop the day before we travel to determine where we're targeting for the night. We like state parks where we can find them. Most should be open or opening soon.

Gas buddy for sure to find diesel!
We figure out how far we want to go, then dial in locations of towns that look right using our iOS maps app (Google maps does well for this, too.) once we've determined a few potential stopping places, we Google the areas/towns to see what attractions might be around (great hikes/gardens/museums--whatever floats your land yacht). At the same time, we Google RV parks and read thru reviews.
If there are state parks available, we often prefer then to commercial parks because they will almost always be less expensive, will definitely not have permanent residents (not necessarily a negative, but sometimes) and usually have good hiking trails and things to see.
Have fun!

I have yet to find anything as thorough and useful as Allstays. I have it on my phone, Chromebook, and desktop PC.

All Stays Camp and RV is my very favorite campground app. I mostly use Forest Service and State and National Parks and it is very good and up to date with them. Modest cost (like $5 or $10 now) but well worth the money.

Reserve America for State and National Parks. Good Sam has a good app as well. It includes non-Good Sam Parks.

Gas Buddy was mentioned, particularly for diesel. I also use the Pilot app. While they may not always be the cheapest, they accommodate RV's very well. You may need to be a Good Sam member to get it, but they also offer a 3 cents per gallon discount. I generally will use Allstars, Good Sam, or KOA apps to find campgrounds.

Allstays is best. It has a powerful filter that lets you hone in on just about any kind of campground. Doesn't have a filter for gas stations but does that you filter for all the big truck stop chains which sell diesel, are easy to get in and out of and which sell decent highway coffee.

AllStays has a wealth of information about campgrounds, service stations and businesses of interest to campers.
GasBuddy is great for comparing gas prices.
Waze is a Google product that activity updates road conditions as you travel.
All three of these apps are worth looking at.

I use rvparkreviews to find campgrounds and read reviews. I use the good sam site to compare their ratings of the campgrounds. I don't know if rvparkreviews has an aap as I'm not a smart phone user.

I use All Stays. It can be a little cumbersome, but I find a lot of good info.

One more vote for AllStays. ReserveAmerica and Recreation.gov for most state and federal park reservations respectively. Some states (e.g. Montana, SD) use their own system, but you can find that in AllStays
